H2-View News: Enapter enhances hydrogen production with integrated battery storage in electrolysers
Supplied by Chinese partner Zhejiang Wolong Energy Storage System, the batteries will range from 150kW to several megawatts in capacity. They will work in conjunction with Enapter’s multicore electrolysers. In an online statement, Enapter said the partnership will “enable companies to make even better use of the high potential of renewables, reduce production and storage costs for green energy and maximise output in the production of hydrogen.” The batteries will help keep hydrogen production steady by storing extra energy when solar and wind power generate more than needed. When renewable energy is low, the stored energy is used to keep [...]
H2-View News: 21 House Republicans push to preserve hydrogen tax credits under IRA
In a letter shared with Politico, the House Republicans argued that the tax incentives are essential for achieving US energy dominance and have attracted significant investments to their districts. The group has cautioned that repealing these credits could disrupt ongoing projects and increase customer utility bills. Furthermore, they’ve signalled potential opposition to the Republicans’ budget bill if it includes cuts to these incentives. The 21 House Republicans have enough votes to block any bill that aims to weaken or repeal the IRA. In the US House of Representatives, a bill needs a majority to pass, and if these lawmakers vote [...]
H2-View News: Steel tariffs could threaten US electrolysers sold to EU hydrogen projects
The EU is set to reintroduce tariffs on US steel and aluminium, targeting up to €18bn ($19.6bn) worth of US goods in a move that could impact US electrolyser manufacturers supplying European hydrogen projects. This latest escalation in the US-instigated global trade war comes in response to US President Trump’s decision to impose 25% tariffs on all steel and aluminium imports, which took effect on Wednesday (March 12). The European Commission will reinstate tariffs on US products on April 1, with the measures expected to be fully in place by April 13. This is a paid article, to read the [...]
H2-View News: Oxfordshire funds hydrogen refuelling infrastructure for emergency vehicle trials
The Hydrogen Fuel Cell Range Extended Fire Engine Prototype (Hyer Power) project will trial up to three fuel cell-powered vehicles, including a fire engine, ambulance and road sweeper. As the lead partner in the £8m ($10.3m) initiative, UlemCo will direct the funding towards the development of essential hydrogen refuelling infrastructure. Hungerford-based Fuel Cell Systems will provide the refuelling equipment. Since 2016, the company has developed three generations of mobile hydrogen refuelling trucks. Oxfordshire County Council will oversee the installation of the refuelling infrastructure to support the trials. In 2023, UlemCo secured £7.9m ($10.2m) from the UK Government and industry to [...]
H2-View News: ARENA backs Vast’s green methanol production plant in Port Augusta
Awarded by the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA), the Vast Solar 1 (VS1) initiative is part of the Port Augusta Green Energy Hub and includes an option to power a co-located green methanol production facility called Solar Methanol 1 (SM1). Set to be developed in partnership with German company Mabanaft, SM1 will produce green methanol derived from hydrogen in South Australia. Overall, the Australian project will utilise Vast’s next-generation concentrated solar thermal power (CSP) technology to provide long-duration renewable energy storage and generation to supply on-demand clean power to South Australia’s grid. By integrating CSP technology with green methanol production, [...]
H2-View News: Oil and gas industry outpacing hydrogen in workforce talent attraction, says LRWA’s Halliday
Many new professionals are either entering the oil and gas industry directly or returning to traditional energy projects, drawn by better financial incentives, LRWA’s Leanne Halliday said during an H2 View webinar. Taking part in a recent global recruitment survey, the Global Head for Energy and Renewables at LRWA found that many professionals are shifting back to traditional energy projects, driven by the availability in jobs and higher salaries in oil and gas. H2-View News: Lifte H2 and Resato to build hydrogen refuelling station in Kreis Düren to support bus fleet expansion
The two company-consortium was selected by Beteiligungsgesellschaft Kreis Düren, a subsidiary of the district of Düren in North Rhine-Westphalia. The facility will be developed in two phases, initially supporting 23 hydrogen-powered buses before expanding to accommodate an additional 29. During the first phase, buses are expected to refuel in under four hours, with the facility ultimately reaching a full capacity of 1.2 tonnes. Germany’s Lifte H2 will manage the project, design the station and oversee commissioning, while Dutch firm Resato will provide the refuelling infrastructure equipment and short-term maintenance services. Whilst the companies have not revealed when the initial phase [...]

H2-View News: Latvenergo partners with H2Pro to explore 5MW hydrogen project using decoupled electrolysis
Under a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), Israel’s H2Pro will work with Latvia’s national electricity company, Latvenergo, to explore the feasibility of deploying its 5MW electrolyser in the latter’s energy infrastructure. Together, they aim to integrate Latvia’s solar and wind resources to power with H2Pro’s electrolysis technology. Latvian Minister of Economy, Viktors Valainis, said he hopes to “keep developing the energy and other sectors of economy in a mutually beneficial way between Latvia and Israel.” After signing the MOU in Tel Aviv, Israel, Tzahi Rodrig, CEO of H2Pro, claimed that Latvenergo presents an “excellent environment for demonstrating the unique advantages of [...]
H2-View News: TotalEnergies secures 15-year supply from RWE’s 300MW green hydrogen plant
The French oil major will use the volumes in its Leuna refinery in Saxony-Anhalt from 2030 to replace some of the grey hydrogen used in its operations. The hydrogen will be delivered via a 600km section of Germany’s planned 9,000km hydrogen core network (HCN), until the contract’s conclusion in 2044. Patrick Pouyanné, Chairman and CEO of TotalEnergies, said, “This long-term contract for green hydrogen marks an important milestone to reducing our CO2 emissions at our Leuna refinery.” RWE’s GET H2 Nukleus project at its Lingen gas-fired power plant is currently under construction after reaching final investment decision (FID) last summer.
