H2-View News: €8/kg green hydrogen deal announced for hylane’s fuel cell truck fleet
Due to the contractually guaranteed purchase volumes agreed by hylane, customers are offered reduced prices for green hydrogen at facilities in Düsseldorf and Rhine-Neckar. H2 Mobility can supply fuel at €8/kg because the stations involved in the deal are large, high-utilisation sites located along major freight corridors; its Düsseldorf station has a capacity of up to five tonnes per day. Hydrogen at public refuelling stations in Germany typically costs between €10–€15/kg, but €8/kg brings fuel cell trucks closer to diesel parity. © hylane The offer, however, applies only to hylane customers and only at two regional clusters, meaning the reduced [...]
H2-View News: Uniper to install Hymeth electrolyser at Malmö power site
The Nordic start-up has launched or announced multiple alkaline electrolyser modules since its establishment. In 2024, it unveiled its 25kW module and stated its intention to develop larger designs exceeding 250kW. Anders Johansson, the company’s CEO, said the agreement with Uniper is a “strong endorsement” of Hymeth’s Hyaeon technology. Uniper is expected to install the system in Malmö, where it operates the 448MW Öresundsverket gas-fired power plant. While not yet confirmed, the 25kW alkaline electrolyser is likely to be deployed at the site, which has been reinstated as part of Sweden’s electricity preparedness system. Integrating an electrolyser could allow Uniper [...]
H2-View News: Hyundai to build 1GW PEM electrolyser plant in South Korea
The automotive major plans to manufacture PEM electrolyser systems and related components and “position them as a global export business,” not just for domestic supply. Specifically, Hyundai noted that it will capitalise on the “readily available supply of renewable energy” in the southwest region, in addition to nearby hydrogen shipment centres and refuelling stations. The 1GW plant commitment builds on Hyundai’s ongoing hydrogen manufacturing expansion. Last month, the firm broke ground on its hydrogen fuel cell and electrolyser facility in Ulsan, which is set to begin production in 2027. The KRW 930bn ($651m) facility is expected to produce 30,000 fuel [...]
H2-View News: ExxonMobil, BASF team up on turquoise hydrogen tech with Texas demo planned
Under a strategic collaboration, the US oil and gas giant will take methane pyrolysis developed by the German chemicals firm over the past “several years” to deliver an “efficient, cost-competitive, low-emission hydrogen solution.” The technology has been developed by BASF in a project funded by the German government. “We have been working on this technology for more than a decade and developed a superior reactor concept that we have successfully validated at our test plant in Ludwigshafen,” said BASF Chief Technology Officer Dr Stephan Kothrade. H2 View understands BASF’s pilot plant has been operating since 2021 at the German site. [...]
H2-View News: GS E&C leads $15m investment round in ammonia-to-hydrogen firm Amogy
The two companies are already collaborating on a commercial pilot in Pohang, South Korea, where they plan to install a hydrogen-based ammonia distributed power system in 2026 and scale it up to 40MW by 2029. GS Engineering and Construction led the funding round, which included participation from affiliated venture investors Xplor and GS Futures. With the deal closed, GS E&C gains access to Amogy’s on-site ammonia-to-hydrogen technology, which can feed hydrogen into a fuel cell. The company aims to help engineer, build and scale the system globally. “This investment goes beyond a simple financial participation – it represents a strategic [...]
H2-View News: Plug Power electrolysers chosen for three UK-backed green hydrogen projects
The US hydrogen firm said Carlton Power had selected it to supply electrolyser systems to its Trafford, Langage, and Barrow-in-Furness projects, which were all selected for subsidies from the first Hydrogen Allocation Round (HAR1). Under an equipment supply and long-term service agreement, Plug will provide 30MW of its GenEco electrolysers for the Barrow project, 15MW to Trafford, and 10MW to Langage. The Barrow plant will supply hydrogen to paper product manufacturer Kimberly-Clarke after it inked an offtake agreement with Carlton to replace volumes of natural gas currently used. Trafford, planned to be built within the Trafford Low Carbon Energy Park [...]
H2-View News: UK Ammonia Alliance calls for clean NH3 recognition and subsidies
The newly launched UK Ammonia Alliance (UKAA) released its eight recommendations in a report, where it said the UK’s existing ammonia-capable ports could make it a “global trading and bunkering hub”. “We need coordinated action across industry and government to make the most of the UK’s innovation, expertise, and competitive advantages,” said UKAA Chair and Chief Technology Officer of AFC Energy, Dr Mike Rendall. Currently, the UK does not recognise imported low-carbon ammonia within its national hydrogen strategy, meaning it is not eligible for subsidies or support, reflecting the government’s focus on “home-grown” energy. Additionally, the compound is not classed [...]
H2-View News: Verso Energy taps Rely for FEED on €1.3bn hydrogen-based eSAF project
The French company said project DEZiR is the first industrial-scale eSAF initiative in the country to reach the FEED stage. The John Cockerill and Technip Energies joint venture (JV) Rely is expected to “provide the level of definition needed to de-risk the project and pave the way towards engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) execution.” Representing an investment of €1.3bn ($1.5bn), the initiative is expected to produce up to 81,000 tonnes of eSAF per year. By replacing fossil-based kerosene, Verso Energy claimed this could avoid the emissions of over five million tonnes of CO2 over the project’s 25-year lifespan. DEZiR was [...]
H2-View News: Rio Tinto backs Calix with A$35m for Zesty green iron demonstration plant
Under a Joint Development Agreement (JDA), Calix has secured AUD $8m ($5.2m) across two tranches before a final investment decision (FID) on the green iron plant, although it’s dependent on due diligence and milestones. More than AUD $27m ($17.6m) of additional in-kind support, including technical expertise, land, customer access, and, following FID, up to 10,000 tonnes of Pilbara iron ore, will also be provided. Zesty pilot plant © Calix Limited The Pilbara iron ore will be used for commissioning and early operations of Calix’s Zesty demonstration plant in Kwinana, which uses electric heating and hydrogen to produce up to 30,000 [...]
H2-View News: Germany plans 2GW hydrogen-ready power tender under scaled-back strategy
The German government has scaled back plans to develop hydrogen-ready gas-fired power plants to 8GW in a compromise between coalition parties. The new plan will see Germany tender for 8GW of gas-fired power plants and 2GW of power technologies like battery storage. Chancellor Friedrich Merz said the gas plants would be tendered in a way that required them to be “technically capable of using hydrogen” but set no deadline for transition to the energy carrier.
