H2-View News: GS E&C leads $15m investment round in ammonia-to-hydrogen firm Amogy
The two companies are already collaborating on a commercial pilot in Pohang, South Korea, where they plan to install a hydrogen-based ammonia distributed power system in 2026 and scale it up to 40MW by 2029. GS Engineering and Construction led the funding round, which included participation from affiliated venture investors Xplor and GS Futures. With the deal closed, GS E&C gains access to Amogy’s on-site ammonia-to-hydrogen technology, which can feed hydrogen into a fuel cell. The company aims to help engineer, build and scale the system globally. “This investment goes beyond a simple financial participation – it represents a strategic [...]
H2-View News: Plug Power electrolysers chosen for three UK-backed green hydrogen projects
The US hydrogen firm said Carlton Power had selected it to supply electrolyser systems to its Trafford, Langage, and Barrow-in-Furness projects, which were all selected for subsidies from the first Hydrogen Allocation Round (HAR1). Under an equipment supply and long-term service agreement, Plug will provide 30MW of its GenEco electrolysers for the Barrow project, 15MW to Trafford, and 10MW to Langage. The Barrow plant will supply hydrogen to paper product manufacturer Kimberly-Clarke after it inked an offtake agreement with Carlton to replace volumes of natural gas currently used. Trafford, planned to be built within the Trafford Low Carbon Energy Park [...]
H2-View News: UK Ammonia Alliance calls for clean NH3 recognition and subsidies
The newly launched UK Ammonia Alliance (UKAA) released its eight recommendations in a report, where it said the UK’s existing ammonia-capable ports could make it a “global trading and bunkering hub”. “We need coordinated action across industry and government to make the most of the UK’s innovation, expertise, and competitive advantages,” said UKAA Chair and Chief Technology Officer of AFC Energy, Dr Mike Rendall. Currently, the UK does not recognise imported low-carbon ammonia within its national hydrogen strategy, meaning it is not eligible for subsidies or support, reflecting the government’s focus on “home-grown” energy. Additionally, the compound is not classed [...]
H2-View News: Verso Energy taps Rely for FEED on €1.3bn hydrogen-based eSAF project
The French company said project DEZiR is the first industrial-scale eSAF initiative in the country to reach the FEED stage. The John Cockerill and Technip Energies joint venture (JV) Rely is expected to “provide the level of definition needed to de-risk the project and pave the way towards engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) execution.” Representing an investment of €1.3bn ($1.5bn), the initiative is expected to produce up to 81,000 tonnes of eSAF per year. By replacing fossil-based kerosene, Verso Energy claimed this could avoid the emissions of over five million tonnes of CO2 over the project’s 25-year lifespan. DEZiR was [...]
H2-View News: Rio Tinto backs Calix with A$35m for Zesty green iron demonstration plant
Under a Joint Development Agreement (JDA), Calix has secured AUD $8m ($5.2m) across two tranches before a final investment decision (FID) on the green iron plant, although it’s dependent on due diligence and milestones. More than AUD $27m ($17.6m) of additional in-kind support, including technical expertise, land, customer access, and, following FID, up to 10,000 tonnes of Pilbara iron ore, will also be provided. Zesty pilot plant © Calix Limited The Pilbara iron ore will be used for commissioning and early operations of Calix’s Zesty demonstration plant in Kwinana, which uses electric heating and hydrogen to produce up to 30,000 [...]
H2-View News: Germany plans 2GW hydrogen-ready power tender under scaled-back strategy
The German government has scaled back plans to develop hydrogen-ready gas-fired power plants to 8GW in a compromise between coalition parties. The new plan will see Germany tender for 8GW of gas-fired power plants and 2GW of power technologies like battery storage. Chancellor Friedrich Merz said the gas plants would be tendered in a way that required them to be “technically capable of using hydrogen” but set no deadline for transition to the energy carrier. H2-View News: Ofgem approves £164m to advance UK’s hydrogen backbone
These Project Union transmission pipelines in St Fergus-Teesside, the north west, and on the east coast have secured £67m, £40m, and £57m, respectively. Each initiative is expected to form over 50% of the planned 1,500-mile UK hydrogen backbone. Engineering consultancy WSP will likely lead the FEED phase, after it was appointed design integrator for Project Union in July. “This is a hugely significant moment for Britain’s hydrogen journey,” claimed Ian Radley, Chief Commercial Officer at National Gas. “With Ofgem’s support, we’re moving from discussion to delivery – taking significant strides towards building Britain’s core hydrogen network. “Hydrogen will sit alongside [...]
H2-View News: S-Fuelcell launches hydrogen-ready fuel cell platform for AI data centres
The Grid-Free, On-Site (GFOS) platform is built on S-Fuelcell’s PEM fuel cell modules, arranged in a scalable tower configuration that can be combined to deliver “megawatt-class output.” While the systems are expected to run on natural gas today, they have been engineered to switch to 100% hydrogen as availability scales. “Initial rollouts will utilise natural gas to meet immediate demand surges, particularly in regions where AI infrastructure is outpacing utility development,” the company said in a statement. “Once clean hydrogen becomes commercially scalable, GFOS systems can transition with minimal engineering revisions – ensuring alignment with hydrogen economy roadmaps in Korea, [...]
H2-View News: Daimler expands liquid hydrogen truck trials with five new partners
The first year of testing five GenH2 hydrogen trucks with Amazon, Air Products, Holcim, Ineos Inovyn, and Wiedmann & Winz, was completed in September. The vehicles racked up more than 225,000km in customer use trials. Daimler has now added five additional customers to the programme. Hornbach, Reber Logistik, Teva Germany/Ratiopharm, Rhenus, and DHL Supply Chain will each run a fuel cell truck on normal delivery routes in Germany for around one year. The second phase aims to gather additional operational data across sectors, refine service and sales processes, and test new route types – from temperature-controlled pharmaceutical logistics to long-haul [...]
H2-View News: 94% of India’s green hydrogen projects have stalled: IEEFA
In its Enabling Sustainable Demand for Green Hydrogen in India report, IEEFA highlighted execution and demand as the nation’s biggest headwinds, with just 0.1% of projects under construction and 2.8% in operation. Data from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) shows that, as of August 2025, India had 158 green hydrogen projects at various stages of development. Around 94% of this capacity, equivalent to 11.2 million tonnes per year, is yet to “finalise key details.” The demand uncertainty aligns with broader global challenges, with IEEFA reporting that just 6% of planned hydrogen capacity across the world is backed [...]
