H2-View News: Bosch launches electrolyser stacks in North America after US system goes live
The company commissioned a 1.25MW electrolyser system at the Farmington Hills site to produce hydrogen for testing its electrolyser stacks and fuel cells. It mirrors a 2.5MW system installed at the firm’s Bamberg facility, where it makes the stacks in Germany, which came online last November. With the US electrolyser now operational, Bosch said its Hybrion stacks are available to North American buyers. “These systems are provided through our integration partners,” it said. Bosch launched its Hybrion stacks last April with initial plans to supply system integrators like Neuman & Esser, AKA Energy Systems, and Andritz, as well as Chinese [...]
H2-View News: Technip Energies buys into French 80,000-tonne green hydrogen-based SAF project
Having invested in Verso Energy’s DEZiR project, Technip and its Rely joint venture with electrolyser firm John Cockerill will contribute technology and engineering measures for advancing the project toward operation by 2030. The facility, expected to produce 80,000 tonnes of eSAF per year, was one of 13 hydrogen-based projects selected to receive a share of €2.9bn ($3.2bn) from the EU under its latest Innovation Fund round. Rely is carrying out front-end engineering design (FEED) for the plant, while Technip will provide its Canopy carbon capture system, at industries near the site, enabling the use of captured biogenic carbon dioxide for [...]
H2-View News: Thyssenkrupp Nucera confirmed as supplier for Moeve’s 300MW Spanish project
The German electrolyser major has confirmed it was awarded a contract by the Spanish energy firm, after the project reached final investment decision earlier this month Thyssenkrupp Nucera said the engineering, procurement, fabrication and supply contract is valued “in the low three-digit million-euro range”. It will encompass the installation of 300MW of electrolysers at the first phase of the Andalusian green hydrogen valley in Huelva, named Onuba. Moeve has also reserved the option to expand the site’s capacity by 100MW, subject to grid availability and board approval. It comes after the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) was named as the preferred [...]
H2-View News: National Gas confirms first 300-mile phase of UK hydrogen backbone
The network operator said the first phase of Project Union would connect industrial hubs in Teesside, Yorkshire, and the Humber down to the East Midlands. It will form the first segment of the planned 1,500-mile national hydrogen network to transport the gas from production and storage hubs to end-users. © National Gas National Gas has already secured £164m ($219m) in funding from UK energy regulator Ofgem for the East Coast development. Parts of the network will reuse existing natural gas pipelines. However, new-build infrastructure will be focused on the Humber region, where National Gas, alongside energy firms Centrica, Equinor, and [...]
H2-View News: Most Rotterdam hydrogen terminals unlikely before 2030, consultation finds
The consultation conducted by the Port of Rotterdam Authority found that at least nine companies are actively developing terminal concepts. The Dutch port has long positioned itself as a major potential importer of clean hydrogen for Europe. In 2022, the authority outlined ambitions to supply up to 4.6 million tonnes of hydrogen per year to Europe by 2030. However, the consultation revealed demand uncertainty, permitting, power grid congestion, and a lack of infrastructure in wider regions were hampering plans for terminals. “The cost of such terminals quickly amounts to several hundred million euros, which is why companies want a degree [...]
H2-View News: Ballard to supply 50MW of hydrogen fuel cells to Canadian bus maker
Ballard, which claims to have a fleet of over 2,200 fuel cell-electric buses worldwide, will supply 500 of its 100kW FCmoveHD modules for New Flyer’s Xcelsior Charge FC 40-52-seat buses. New Flyer said the agreement will build on its deployment of Ballard’s systems across 11 states in North America, where it has up to 150 fuel cell-electric buses in operation. Details of where the new buses will operate remain undisclosed. However, Oben Uluc, Vice-President of Ballard, said the deal would expand the deployment of zero-emission buses throughout the continent. Ballard recently reported it had cut its losses by 72% year-on-year [...]
H2-View News: OMV Petrom receives first electrolyser for 20MW Romanian e-fuel plant
Romanian oil and gas producer OMV Petrom has received the first electrolyser module for a 20MW green hydrogen-based e-fuel production unit at its Petrobrazi refinery. The PEM module is the first of four, which will produce up to 3,000 tonnes of green hydrogen per year for 250,000 tonnes of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and renewable diesel by 2028. The units come from the German engineering firm Neuman & Esser, which uses Bosch-made electrolyser stacks. Once operating, they will be partially powered by a 7MW solar farm at the Petrobrazi site, which OMV Petrom started building in February. A subsidiary of [...]
H2-View News: Thyssenkrupp Nucera lands FEED deal for 260MW Indian green ammonia project
The German original equipment manufacturer (OEM) was awarded the contract by energy trading firm Select Energy and Indian developer Juno Joule on the green ammonia production facility, which is set for a final investment decision by April 2027. Located on India’s East coast, near Mulapeta Port, the project aims to produce molecules fuel compliant with EU renewable fuel of non-biological origin (RFNBO) criteria for export. It could produce up to one million-tonnes-per-year of green ammonia from approximately 180,000 tonnes of green hydrogen produced by Thyssenkrupp Nucera’s 20MW Scalum alkaline electrolysis modules. Dr Werner Ponikwar, CEO of Thyssenkrupp Nucera, said the [...]
H2-View News: BMW, Hyundai, Honda call on Australia to back hydrogen in EV strategy
Lobby group, the Hydrogen Transport Forum (HTF), made up of BMW, Hyundai, and Honda, said recent geopolitical instability was bolstering the case for hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. In a statement, HTF called on the government to incorporate hydrogen within its National Electric Vehicle Strategy, which is up for review in 2026. “Australia’s transport system will be stronger and more resilient if we pursue a diversified strategy that includes hydrogen, battery electric vehicles and other emerging eco-friendly technologies,” HTF said. Since conflict unfolded in the Gulf, oil prices have increased from around $60–$70 per barrel to around $100. The group said [...]
H2-View News: Start-up unveils turquoise hydrogen-powered AI data centre system
Named Pact, the system uses methane pyrolysis to produce hydrogen to provide power for technologies, while capturing carbon in the form of graphite. It utilises a low-temperature catalytic reactor to separate hydrogen from methane, converting carbon from the reaction into solid graphite. According to Endeavour, Pact can power generators to support systems upwards of 1GW, and claims the hydrogen it produces has a lower lifecycle greenhouse gas (GHG) footprint than electrolysis-based hydrogen. However, this claim will hinge on methane sourcing. The gas is a GHG some 80 times more potent than carbon dioxide. When sourced from high-leak supply chains, the [...]
