H2-View News: Hydrogen truck delivered to German logistics firm after ruling out electric vehicles
Based on a Mercedes Benz Actros chassis, the truck is equipped with a 7.8-litre Deutz six-cylinder in-line engine which, after conversion to hydrogen, generates an output of 210kW. The hydrogen engine has been combined with the Allison 3000 R transmission and zero-emission technology, which reportedly enables optimal integration with several energy sources. With the support of special-purpose vehicle conversion and construction company Paul Nutzfahrzeuge, KEYOU expects the vehicle to go into operation shortly. EP-Trans, located in Regensburg, Germany, has said the truck will serve an international steel group in Bavaria. In an online statement, KEYOU said the truck will offer [...]

H2-View News: Netherlands ‘must increase demand certainty’ for hydrogen
The European country must also secure investments in new electricity generation, reduce grid congestion and manage the transition away from natural gas, which has long been a cornerstone of its energy system, the IEA adds. The Netherlands has set an ambitious target of increasing capacity from 5 GW today to 35 GW by 2035 and 70 GW by 2050, along with a 3-4 GW hydrogen electrolysis capacity target by 2030, and the government has allocated up to €7.5bn in support. “This requires a stable framework for long-term offshore wind development in co-ordination with the build-out of hydrogen production, which will [...]
H2-View News: GH EnA partners with Utility to produce hydrogen from biogas in South Korea
Under a Commercial Agreement, the company wants to advance South Korea’s low-carbon hydrogen market, aligning with the nation’s Hydrogen Economy Roadmap. H2 View understands that the H2Gen reactors, based on Utility’s eXERO gas production technology, can produce hydrogen directly from biogas without the need for electricity or steam methane reforming (SMR). It is reportedly a more cost-effective solution with a significantly smaller footprint compared to traditional processes. The initial projects the two companies are set to deploy will be in Chuncheon, Taebaek, Hongcheon, Sokcho, Yangyang, Goseong and Inje. GH EnA will take the lead on the projects and supply the [...]

H2-View News: Energie AG to repurpose sections of Austrian gas pipeline to hydrogen
Energie AG is advancing the development and has commissioned Netz Oberösterreich to repurpose the pipeline between Linz and Sattledt. The Energie AG-owned company operates a network spanning 6,000km and expects to submit the first blending section for approval shortly. Reportedly, they will operate the dual-strand pipeline in Upper Austria as a dual-use pipeline in the future, allowing it to continue transporting natural gas in one pipe and hydrogen in the other. The hydrogen pipeline, with a diameter of 40cm, could transport up to 50 cubic metres of hydrogen per hour, depending on the pressure. This corresponds to around 170MW – [...]

H2-View News: OXCCU’s hydrogen-based SAF process promises to ‘lower capital costs by 50%’
Furthermore, the UK-based start-up has stated in a report that the SAF production costs are reduced by 25% per tonne compared to Reverse Water Gas Shift Fischer-Tropsch (RWGA+FT) when using OXCCU’s CO2 Fischer-Tropsch (CO2 F-T) process. The University of Oxford spin-out uses its iron-based F-T catalyst to produce SAFs, marketed under the brand OXEFUEL, by converting CO2 and green hydrogen into jet fuel in a single exothermic step, to streamline stages and reduce hydrogen needs, therefore cutting costs. © OXCCU H2 View understands that OXCCU has also proved they can meet the UK’s renewable fuels of non-biological origin (RFNBO), greenhouse [...]
