H2-View News: McPhy slashes FY2024 revenue guidance amid project delays and refuelling exit
The hydrogen company said delays in the HyCC Djewels green hydrogen plant in the Netherlands, which it said, “has not been taken into account for 2024, as the parties are currently pursuing their discussions.” Previously expected to start construction in 2024, McPhy along with Technip Energies, was contracted to supply, design and construct a 20MW electrolyser plant for the project. Planned for Delfzijl, the plant is expected to produce 3,000 tonnes of green hydrogen annually for supply to OCI Methanol. Having secured €80m ($81.6m) of Dutch Government funding last July, the project was expected to start construction in 2024 ahead [...]
H2-View News: Hydrogen-powered trucking: Progress, pitfalls and the path to cost parity
As the hydrogen application funnel has narrowed, mobility advocates have been coining heavy-duty trucks as the frontier that will reap the benefits of hydrogen. Despite 2024 proving to be a year of hampered ambitions across various end-uses, truck firms appeared to make clear strides in deploying heavy-duty hydrogen-powered vehicles. The phoenix out of the ashes that is Nikola in October said that it had sold 235 of its Class 8 TRE FCEV trucks between Q4 2023 and Q3 2024. The firm also unveiled trials with the likes of DHL, Purina and Walmart. This is a paid article, to read the [...]

H2-View News: Belfort fire linked to electrical cause, not hydrogen buses: reports
Instead, an interview carried out by French media outlet Mobily-Cités with Yannick Monnier, Director of the Belfort Territory Transport Authority, suggested that initial analysis shows the fire was electrically generated, although Monnier added that it was too early to confirm. The Director reaffirmed the effectiveness of hydrogen-powered buses and the safety mechanisms on board. “All the safety systems on the hydrogen buses worked perfectly,” Monnier told the French media. “The flares that fed the fire came from burning plastics and other materials, unrelated to the hydrogen flames, which were quickly dissipated by the safety devices. “This incident will not question [...]
H2-View News: JCB’s hydrogen combustion engine gains commercial approval across Europe
The UK-based construction firm can now sell the engine throughout Europe and has said that they expect other countries to follow suit with certification in 2025. The Netherlands’ vehicle authority RDW was the first to issue an official certification before licensing bodies in Great Britain, Northern Ireland, Germany, France, Spain, Belgium, Poland, Finland, Switzerland and Lichtenstein followed. © JCB JCB has already produced more than 130 evaluation engines which are powering backhoe loaders, loadall telescopic handlers and generator sets, whilst real-world testing of its equipment at customers’ sites is now at an advanced stage. “This is a very significant moment [...]
H2-View News: Safe S.p.A. to deliver hydrogen storage and distribution technology to Sicilian project
Under the agreement signed with Agrobiofert, a Sicilian agricultural company, S.p.A. will provide a 30-foot cabin containing two high-efficiency hydraulic compressors with “three combined compression stages,” designed to reach 450 bar. For the H2Farm project, the compressors will optimise the management of hydrogen produced. The project has been funded by PNRR resources and promoted by the Sicilian Region, with the ultimate goal being to build a 2.5MW plant for green hydrogen production, powered by PV. H2 View understands that delivery of the compressors is scheduled for late summer 2025, in line with the plant’s operational start. “Hydrogen is not only [...]
H2-View News: HEA urges GB Energy to lead UK hydrogen revolution through hubs and intermediary role
The Hydrogen Energy Association (HEA) has suggested that the UK government’s GB Energy should invest in inland hydrogen hubs, core industrial clusters, and ports to accelerate hydrogen trade. With the global hydrogen market expected to reach £700bn annually by 2050, HEA has stressed the importance for the UK to capture a 10% share to generate £70bn in revenue, £46bn in GVA, and 410,000 jobs. However, they’ve emphasised the need to act within a 10-year window. This is a paid article, to read the article in full you can sign in if you are subscribed or subscribe today.
