H2-View News: Air Products to build 300MW hydrogen facility at approved Immingham green energy terminal
The Immingham Green Energy Terminal (IGET), located on England’s east coast, will import ammonia and crack it into green hydrogen for use in the UK. The facility will be designed to handle 292 vessels per annum, with 12 of these anticipated for the delivery of ammonia. In addition to being the first customer of the port, Air Products will construct a large-scale 300MW green hydrogen production facility at the terminal’s west site. H2 View understands that the industrial gas giant will import green ammonia from Saudi Arabia, likely the 2.2GW NEOM initiative. The green energy terminal will also house a [...]
H2-View News: FuelCell Energy to test nuclear-hydrogen synergy with SOEC system as US eases 45V rules
The US-based firm wants to demonstrate 100% efficiency and leverage nuclear heat to reduce hydrogen costs by up to 30%, reportedly. FuelCell Energy has said it will be the largest electrolyser studied at INL. It is expected to produce 150kg of hydrogen per day from 250kW of nuclear energy-generated electricity. They will analyse how nuclear-hydrogen integration can be achieved, with nuclear plants switching between power generation and hydrogen production. The testing phase will also evaluate the potential of advanced small modular reactor designs, from 200 to 500MW, paired with FuelCell Energy’s SOEC utility-scale electrolysers. “Pairing FuelCell Energy’s electrolyser with nuclear [...]
H2-View News: 90% of Linde’s current US clean hydrogen developments will be blue
Linde’s CEO has revealed that up to 90% of its clean hydrogen projects under development in the US will be blue hydrogen, as the industrial gas major bets on carbon capture tax credits. Sanjiv Lamba confirmed this during Linde’s FYQ4 2024 earnings call, which highlighted the company’s $10.4bn project backlog, signalling strong future demand, and its 29.5% adjusted operating margin, reflecting sustained profitability. H2-View News: Hydrogen refuelling projects allocated €33m in latest EU AFIF funding round
In total, €422m ($438m) has been allocated to 39 alternative fuel projects in Europe, with eight of these focusing on hydrogen infrastructure throughout Spain, France and Germany. Additionally, two of the projects will include the deployment of a small electrolyser to supply the refuelling stations with hydrogen. This includes HyLandAir, which has secured €5.6m ($5.8m) and will install two stations at Charles de Gaulle Aiport, powered by a 5MW electrolyser. Almost €30m ($31m) has been allocated for an ammonia and methanol bunkering facility in Europe. Up to €1bn will be available for the 2024-25 AFIF phase and applications remain open [...]

H2-View News: ArcelorMittal scales back 2025 investment in large-scale decarbonisation projects
Revealed in its Q4 2024 results, the steel giant said it will “continue to optimise its decarbonisation pathway to ensure competitiveness and an appropriate return on investment,” but large-scale decarbonisation projects are “advancing at a slower pace than originally anticipated.” The Luxembourg-based steel company attributed this to “insufficient policy [and] market developments.” It added, “Current investments are focused on the new EAF ag Gijón (Spain) and the EAF expansion at Sestao (Spain) which are intended to further expand the company’s offering of XCarb low-carbon emissions steel.” ArcelorMittal is investing only $0.3-4bn in decarbonisation projects in 2025, signalling a slower transition to hydrogen-based [...]

H2-View News: Avalon Renovables aims to attract €8bn for Andalusia’s green hydrogen push
The Madrid-based company unveiled its plans at the Green Hydrogen Congress in Huelva, Spain, announcing its goal to create over 10,000 jobs in the region by 2030. Whilst not much has been revealed about the project, H2 View understands that Avalon plans to begin the production of hydrogen-based methanol and sustainable aviation fuels (SAFs) in 2028. A central element of the initiative is the PBAC Project (Bays of Algeciras and Cádiz), which involves constructing a hydrogen pipeline to transport green hydrogen to one of the world’s busiest port areas, according to Avalon’s LinkedIn post. The project is expected to contribute [...]
