H2-View News: Stegra secures €37m grant but funding gap remains for green steel plant
Awarded via the Swedish Energy Agency’s Industrial Leap programme, the authority said the support would increase the green steel startup’s chances of securing additional capital. The latest award brings Stegra’s total Swedish grants to around €137m ($150m) – less than the €265m ($292m) package previously approved by the European Commission. The Swedish Energy Agency added that further support is conditional on Stegra demonstrating full project financing by spring 2026. Stegra has secured €6.5bn ($7.15bn) in loans and equity for the plant and recently launched a €975m ($1.07bn) financing round to cover rising costs and replace state aid that has yet [...]
H2-View News: Kawasaki breaks ground on Japan’s first large-scale liquid hydrogen terminal
The Kawasaki LH2 Terminal in Ogishima will be equipped with a 50,000m3 liquid hydrogen storage tank, which the pair claim will be the “world’s largest”, along with maritime cargo handling, liquefaction, and lorry dispatch facilities. © KHI It is planned as an import and bunkering site for liquid hydrogen from 2030 onwards to import hydrogen into Japan for onward distribution to domestic consumers. JSE, which is owned by KHI, Iwatani Corporation, and other Japanese investors, will manage the project, while a KHI joint venture will be the main design and construction contractor. In addition to the terminal, the duo plan [...]
H2-View News: Hyundai hydrogen trucks to start timber logistics work in Uruguay
The Xcient fuel cell truck fleet was sent from the Port of Gunsan in South Korea yesterday. Once in Montevideo, they will operate in the Kahirós project, which will provide green hydrogen fuel for local trucks. Hyundai fuel cell truck distributor Fidocar is part of the consortium establishing the initiative, which includes the development of a 2MW green hydrogen plant in 2026. Being used to transport timber, each of Hyundai’s vehicles can travel more than 720km on 31kg of hydrogen storage. The automotive major said this was enough “to complete a full timber transport cycle on a single charge.” Hyundai’s [...]
H2-View News: Longi moves to integrate solar-battery-hydrogen energy storage systems
After taking a majority stake in Italy’s PotisEdge, Longi says it aims to become an integrated “solar-storage-hydrogen energy solutions provider.” Technical details remain unclear, but the Chinese firm has suggested it will develop “closed loop” systems by combining its solar PV and alkaline electrolyser technologies with PotisEdge’s BESS. “Solar is the creator of clean energy, energy storage is the stabiliser of the power system, and hydrogen is the regulator that balances it all,” said Longi Vice-President Dennis She. PotisEdge makes battery-based storage systems for residential, commercial, and grid-level applications, as well as energy management systems. Longi claimed this will provide [...]
H2-View News: LONGi launches storage product to support solar-to-hydrogen systems
Under the strategy, solar provides cheap generation, batteries will handle short-term balancing, while hydrogen acts as the long-duration regulator that stabilises the wider energy system. “Solar is the creator of clean energy, energy storage is the stabiliser of the power system, and hydrogen is the regulator that balances it all,” explained Dennis She, Longi’s Vice President. Longi’s new utility-scale battery energy storage product will sit alongside its existing alkaline electrolyser range. The turnkey lithium-ion solution is aimed at developers and utilities. The company said the system is designed to help electrolysers operate more efficiently and flexibly when paired with renewable [...]
Hydrogen Council News: 200+ Global hydrogen leaders convene in South Korea to shape the next chapter of hydrogen buildout
BRUSSELS, November 26, 2025 – More than 200 CEOs and senior executives from the world’s leading businesses in hydrogen are gathering next week in Seoul, South Korea for the Hydrogen Council’s Global CEO Summit, to align on action needed to accelerate hydrogen deployment and unlock commercial-scale demand by 2030. Co-hosted by Hyundai Motor Group Vice Chair Jaehoon Chang, Co-Chair of the Hydrogen Council, the Summit will be joined by Korean political leadership – such as Vice Minister of Climate, Energy and Environment and the Governor of Jeju, government officials from France, Germany, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, Australia and Indonesia, [...]
H2-View News: Oxagon signs land lease for green hydrogen and industrial gas plant in Neom
Abdullah Hashim Industrial Gases & Equipment Co. (AHG) plans to build the gas production and distribution facility in Oxagon’s industrial quarter, and eyes starting early operations in late 2026. The phased development will see ground broken in February next year, with subsequent phases due to start in 2028. AHG has not announced the plant’s planned capacity or output. It comes as Neom anticipates growing industrial gas demand from future manufacturing bases that will be set up within the futuristic industrial city. The pair say the plant will reduce reliance on long-distance gas imports, minimise supply chain disruptions, and cut emissions [...]
H2-View News: Updated: Alstom pauses hydrogen train development after France pulls support
Alstom told H2 View the suspension applies only to an Important Projects of Common European Interest (IPCEI)-related development and that wider hydrogen activities are continuing. The company said it has delivered the IPCEI-backed prototype railway fuel cell and remains in “regular and responsible dialogue” with the French Government over next steps. However, France’s decision to halt its contribution effectively blocks Alstom’s access to its share of EU support, as IPCEIs require matching national funding. An Alstom representative told H2 View, “Alstom is engaged in regular and responsible dialogue with the French government with a view to identifying solutions to ensure [...]
H2-View News: Uniper secures Thyssenkrupp licences for six ammonia crackers
Under the framework agreement, Uniper has secured the rights to use Thyssenkrupp Uhde’s cracker technology, enabling it to move quickly once it decides to build the plants. Uniper is currently carrying out pre-FEED work for the first commercial-scale ammonia cracker at its Wilhelmshaven site, a phase intended to firm up the design, costs and overall feasibility. In parallel, the company tasked Electric Hydrogen with designing a 200MW electrolyser last year as the first module of a planned 1GW green hydrogen plant that will operate alongside a green ammonia import terminal at the same hub. Uniper will begin full FEED studies [...]
H2-View News: Air Liquide eyes blue hydrogen build-out with Singapore refiner
Under a new memorandum of understanding (MOU), the pair will look to integrate an Air Liquide-developed carbon capture-equipped autothermal reforming (ATR) unit with Aster’s refining and petrochemical infrastructure. Both firms said the work would support Singapore’s low-carbon hydrogen goals and its Net Zero by 2050 strategy. According to Air Liquide, its ATR process can enable a carbon capture rate of up to 99%. The industrial gas firm’s Singapore CEO, Tina Loke, said the company would use its experience of over 30 ATR installations worldwide to develop the plans. Aster operates refining and petrochemical facilities on Bukom and Jurong Island, where [...]
