H2-View News: CPH2 raises £7.4m to commercialise membrane-less hydrogen tech

The company, which is developing membrane-less electrolysers, will issue almost 148 million new shares – growing its share base by nearly 40% – in a bid to secure funding for its wider ambitions. Despite the heavy dilution, demand was strong. Through an accelerated bookbuild, CPH2 will net around £7m ($9.4m) through the placement of over 140 million new shares at £0.05 ($0.067).  A further £0.4m ($0.54m) will be raised through an oversubscribed retail offer. The new funds give CPH2 the runway to move from pilot testing into full commercial deployment. Earlier this year, CEO Jon Duffy told H2 View CPH2 [...]

H2-View News: Plug Power delivers record output at Georgia green hydrogen plant

The Woodbine plant ran at 97% uptime, 99.7% availability (excluding a grid outage) and 92.8% efficiency, the green hydrogen company reported. The Georgia plant uses its 5MW GenEco electrolysers, which are part of its modular PEM line. Plug said the production record proves the systems can “deliver high-performance backed by real-world results.” The company touted the site as the largest operating green hydrogen plant in the US and claimed market leadership by citing additional facilities in Tennessee and Louisiana, although neither is yet at full capacity. “Our Georgia plant is running with greater consistency and strength every day,” stated Andy [...]

H2-View News: Polish rail operator launches trials of PESA-built hydrogen locomotive

The SM42-6Dn train is powered by two Ballard 85kW fuel cells, paired with battery technology. The locomotive passed preliminary operational testing in Bydgoszcz, Poland, in 2022. It was first operated yesterday (September 3) on the Jelenia Góra to Karpacz route, located near the Czech border. Lower Silesia, which has the most non-electrified railway lines in Poland, is a natural testbed for hydrogen trains to replace diesel on routes where electrification is not viable. “Electrification of railway lines is the task of the government, but we do not rest on our laurels, and we are also looking for modern, ecological solutions [...]

H2-View News: UK study explores ammonia-fuelled engines for offshore support vessels

The Project Fast Move study, between Ricardo, Brunel University of London, and the Port of Cromarty Firth, will evaluate the feasibility of four-stroke ammonia-fuelled engines in offshore support vessels (OSVs) to support emissions reduction targets. Part of the Department for Transport-funded UK Shore initiative, the study will assess the use of the hydrogen-based fuel in vessels at the Port of Cromarty Firth in Scotland. It will also look to understand high-pressure dual-fuel ammonia combustion, and develop combustion system concepts that maximise ammonia substitution rates, as well as assess port and vessel safety. The study will run until Spring 2026. OSVs [...]

H2-View News: Linde receives 35MW Accelera electrolysers for Niagara Falls hydrogen plant

The 35MW system will produce green hydrogen using hydroelectric power at the site of Linde’s existing grey hydrogen production facility, using existing liquefaction and distribution infrastructure to meet merchant demand. The plant, which was touted to double the industrial gas major’s US green liquid hydrogen production capacity, has been in the works since 2022 and is slated to start up in 2025. Accelera’s General Manager – Electrolysers, Des McMenamim, said the system delivery was a “significant milestone” for the firm. “This project demonstrates our ability to deliver large-scale, reliable solutions that enable our customers to produce green hydrogen on a [...]

H2-View News: Daimler GenH2 hydrogen trucks surpass 225,000km in customer trials

Tested by Amazon, Air Products, Holcim, Ineos Inovyn and Wiedmann & Winz, the trucks ran daily logistics routes with ranges beyond 1,000km and refuelling times of just 10–15 minutes. Manufacturer Daimler said the performance matched diesel, minus the emissions. Across the trials, the vehicles consumed between 5.6-8kg of hydrogen per 100km, refuelling 285 times with a total of 15 tonnes of liquid hydrogen at stations in Woerth and Duisburg, Germany. Daimler said the fuel use compares with around 58,000 litres of diesel and 154 tonnes of CO2 for the same distance. “All these practical experiences help us to optimally prepare [...]

H2-View News: Everfuel secures RFNBO certification for 20MW HySynergy plant

The certification confirms that Everfuel’s production volumes meet environmental and traceability criteria under the EU’s Renewable Energy Directives (RED II and RED III). The energy firm can now supply certified hydrogen in Denmark, Germany and northern Europe, putting Everfuel ahead of numerous European peers as demand for certified hydrogen ramps up. From 2026, RFNBO quotas for industry and transport kick in. Under the RFNBO rules, designed to ensure only green electricity is used in production, electrolyser operators must source power from new renewable energy assets located in the same grid region and match operation on an hourly basis from 2028. [...]

H2-View News: SOEC electrolysis ‘transformative’ for the cost of green ammonia: Ceres

Solid oxide electrolysis cell (SOEC) technology is reportedly 30% more efficient than PEM and alkaline technologies according to Ceres, but true cost competitiveness could be realised at large-scale green ammonia plants. Chandra Macauley, Ceres’ Principal Product Applications Specialist, claimed the company’s technology will be “transformative” for the cost of hydrogen-based ammonia. H2-View News: Lhyfe supplies Essent with green hydrogen for Bosch boiler testing

The hydrogen was delivered as part of the GROHW project, a collaboration between the Netherlands’ largest energy supplier Essent, Nefit Bosch, Firan, and Witteveen+Bos. The initiative aims to reduce CO2 emissions in the Netherlands, and marks one of the first implemented green hydrogen projects in the country. With Lhyfe supplying the fuel, Essent operates the Deventer hydrogen station, Firan and Witteveen+Bos provide infrastructure expertise, while Bosch is testing boilers ahead of a planned H2-ready combi model by 2029. Although the French producer did not disclose volumes, the hydrogen was delivered to Overijssel in 40-foot containers. In 2024, the company made more [...]

H2-View News: UK and others move on hydrogen floating power hubs

Off-grid power hubs could in theory cut emissions from port operations and accelerate the UK’s transition to Net Zero. Workstreams include the development of a low-pressure nanoporous hydrogen storage module (Rux Energy); integration of the hydrogen balance of plant and power conversion systems (Ricardo); design of complex AC/DC electrical architectures with renewable integration (Schneider Electric, University of Strathclyde); platform naval architecture and hydrodynamic testing (University of Strathclyde, Elire); anchoring and mooring (Triton Anchor Europe); and transportation, installation and operational strategy (Sealand Projects). The feasibility period will run from 13 September to 31 March 2026. The challenges Hydrogen floating power hubs [...]
