H2-View News: Egypt’s SCZONE partners with Japanese firms on ammonia and hydrogen bunkering

One deal will see SCZONE partner with Japan’s Itochu Corporation and Egypt’s Orascom Construction to develop ammonia bunkering facilities, while another agreement with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government focuses on knowledge sharing for green hydrogen bunkering. A second agreement involves discussions with Sumitomo Corporation on creating a new industrial zone within SCZONE to attract Asian investment, with potential cooperation in fuel bunkering, green hydrogen, green steel, desalination, and infrastructure projects. While the reports don’t specify which fuels will be supplied, liquid hydrogen’s cryogenic challenges make ammonia the more practical choice, due to its storage requirements — hence hydrogen-based ammonia’s prominence in [...]

H2-View News: Hyundai launches fully redesigned Nexo with extended range and higher output

Hyundai’s updated SUV is longer, wider and taller, with hydrogen storage boosted to 6.69kg (up from 6.33kg), extending its range beyond 700km compared with 666km in the previous model. Additionally, the fuel cell stack now delivers 110kW gross, increasing the motor output to 150kW (201hp). The fuel cell is paired with an onboard battery, which has had its capacity doubled from 40kW to 80kW. When the vehicle was first unveiled earlier this year, Hyundai highlighted its ‘Route Planner11’ that integrates hydrogen refuelling stations into a planned journey. The updated Nexo was presented at the 13th World Congress of the Econometric [...]

H2-View News: Norwegian Hydrogen and GreenIron to co-locate hydrogen and DRI plants

The two companies first collaborated last year, after Norwegian Hydrogen agreed to deliver green hydrogen from its Hellesylt plant to GreenIron’s first full-scale furnace for direct reduction of metals in Sandviken. Under a new strategic cooperation, the partners plan to open up opportunities for wider hydrogen adoption across surrounding industries, supporting the Norwegian region’s broader green transition. “This agreement strengthens our ability to deliver integrated, fossil-free solutions to key players in the steel and metals sector,” explained Jens Berge, CEO of Norwegian Hydrogen. “Together with GreenIron, we are creating a scalable model for hydrogen-based industrial transformation, building on experience from [...]

H2-View News: ZeroAvia edges closer to certification with FAA approval of special conditions

The latest update follows the G-1 issued by the FAA last February. The P-1 Issue Paper outlines the conditions that ZeroAvia’s technology must meet, showing that the regulator and company are aligned on the certification pathway. Once the FAA publishes the Special Conditions in the Federal Register, the means of compliance will be determined in the next stage of certification, ahead of market entry. “Getting this electric propulsion system certified and into service will be a monumental leap in the next great transition in aviation,” explained Val Miftakhov, Founder & CEO, ZeroAvia. “Electrifying aviation will deliver a step change in [...]

H2-View News: Sungrow opens hydrogen technology lab to drive European electrolyser R&D

Located at Munich Airport Business Park, the lab positions Sungrow directly in Europe’s hydrogen industry, closer to customers, regulators and partners. H2 View understands that the facility complements Sungrow’s 30MW electrolysis demonstration platform and its established research centres in China to form a “complete innovation chain.” The lab has also been built fully compliant with German safety regulations, which is important for production credibility and market entry. In terms of technical capabilities, the facility is equipped with material development and fabrication and system validation, including pressurised electrochemical characterisation and PEM assembly. Additionally, the lab is designed with capacity for future [...]

H2-View News: Acme wins again in India’s green ammonia auction with ₹51.89/kg bid

Acme’s second bid and seventh of the auction altogether sits near the bottom of the range, just above NTPC and Jakson Green’s, and far below its first, much higher ₹55.75/kg ($0.64/kg) bid. The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) announced today that Acme will supply 50,000 tonnes per year of hydrogen-based ammonia to CIL’s fertiliser plant in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. The bid was part of India’s first green ammonia tender under the Sight scheme, Mode-2A, Tranche-I, where SECI is securing supply for 13 fertiliser plants across the country to help the energy transition. SECI said that with auction prices now [...]

H2-View News: Ammonia nearing proof of concept in shipping

While ammonia is ready for piloting in shipping and methanol for low-carbon operations, both require a concerted push if they are to be mature enough to rapidly scale from around 2030, in line with industry targets, the From pilots to practice: Methanol and ammonia as shipping fuels report notes. It finds the key area to be addressed is the fuel supply chain – in the case of methanol, enhancing the availability of green molecules; for ammonia, validating and rolling out commercial ammonia bunkering at key ports. Jesse Fahnestock, Director of Decarbonisation at the Global Maritime Forum, said we have seen [...]

H2-View News: HyTerra confirms hydrogen up to 83% at Kansas Nemaha project

Unlike the Sue Duroche 3 well, drilled in April and recording hydrogen up to 96%, the McCoy 1 well at the Nemaha project was sunk 9km away within the same fault block. HyTerra stated this step-out drilling confirms the system extends beyond a single site, supporting its potential as a scalable hydrogen-helium play. The discovery came just five months after HyTerra kicked off its first Kansas drilling campaign. In March, the company highlighted reports of hydrogen concentrations of 92% and up to 3% helium at the Nemaha site. © HyTerra Furthermore, helium levels of 5% far exceed Kansas’ traditional 0.25-2.5%, [...]
