H2-View News: Daimler expands liquid hydrogen truck trials with five new partners
The first year of testing five GenH2 hydrogen trucks with Amazon, Air Products, Holcim, Ineos Inovyn, and Wiedmann & Winz, was completed in September. The vehicles racked up more than 225,000km in customer use trials. Daimler has now added five additional customers to the programme. Hornbach, Reber Logistik, Teva Germany/Ratiopharm, Rhenus, and DHL Supply Chain will each run a fuel cell truck on normal delivery routes in Germany for around one year. The second phase aims to gather additional operational data across sectors, refine service and sales processes, and test new route types – from temperature-controlled pharmaceutical logistics to long-haul [...]
H2-View News: 94% of India’s green hydrogen projects have stalled: IEEFA
In its Enabling Sustainable Demand for Green Hydrogen in India report, IEEFA highlighted execution and demand as the nation’s biggest headwinds, with just 0.1% of projects under construction and 2.8% in operation. Data from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) shows that, as of August 2025, India had 158 green hydrogen projects at various stages of development. Around 94% of this capacity, equivalent to 11.2 million tonnes per year, is yet to “finalise key details.” The demand uncertainty aligns with broader global challenges, with IEEFA reporting that just 6% of planned hydrogen capacity across the world is backed [...]
H2-View News: Germany cuts electricity prices in boost for industrial gas sector
The subsidised price will be set at 5 eurocents per kilowatt hour, it reports. Following the Bundestag parliament vote, the EU must agree to the scheme under state aid rules. Chancellor Friedrich Merz and coalition partners also agreed to tender 8GW of capacity for gas power plant construction. Germany’s electricity prices are among the highest in Europe due to transmission fees, taxes, and levies that fund the energy transition. Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, natural gas prices surged, contributing to a 5% decrease in industrial production. Some energy-intensive companies downsized European operations or sought cheaper energy elsewhere. It has also [...]
H2-View News: Brazil says hydrogen framework and tax credits to be finalised during COP30
Brazil’s mines and energy minister has announced a decree establishing a legal framework and tax credits for low-carbon hydrogen will be signed next week during COP30. Alexandre Silveira said the decree will regulate Brazil’s National Hydrogen Program (PNH2), Low-Carbon Hydrogen Development Program (PHBC), and the Special Incentive Regime for Low-Carbon Hydrogen Production (Rehidro). H2-View News: Ballard cancels 3GW Texas fuel cell plant
During its Q3 earnings call, CEO Marty Neese confirmed the company “will not pursue” the 3GW facility. The decision follows earlier uncertainty over whether the project would secure Department of Energy (DOE) funding, after the US government cut 223 clean energy projects totalling $7.5bn across its grant programmes. Neese, who was appointed CEO in July, explained, “Our analysis shows our existing global manufacturing capacity, with minor adjustments, will meet forecasted volumes. “This decision underscores our commitment to capital discipline and focus on efficient execution.” Ballard secured $94m in federal funding for the plant under the Biden Administration in 2024. However, [...]
H2-View News: Chinese OEM Hygreen launches Saudi JV to localise electrolyser manufacturing
The new Middle East Electrolysers Company, formed with Green Electrode Consortium of Industry (GECI), will look to meet growing demand in the Middle East and North Africa region. The JV will set up a research and development centre, with its headquarters due to be located in the Kingdom’s eastern province. GECI is a Saudi industrial consortium supported by the Ministry of Energy and engaged in the localisation of hydrogen-related technologies. It has already formed a JV with Spain’s Jolt Solutions to establish an electrode plant at the King Salman Energy Park. GECI CEO Abdulrahman Al-Wahtani said it would be working [...]
H2-View News: Air Liquide commissions industrial-scale ammonia cracker at Belgian port
Located at the Port of Antwerp-Bruges, ammonia imported by ship can be cracked on-site to produce hydrogen for industry, mobility, or pipeline injection. Air Liquide’s Armelle Levieux called the cracking plant a “world first” for low-carbon hydrogen supply chains. “By proving the viability of industrial-scale ammonia cracking, Air Liquide demonstrates its capacity to innovate and provide concrete solutions for its customers, and contribute to the Energy Transition,” Levieux added. The project received undisclosed financial support from the Flemish Government through the Agency for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (VLAIO). With high energy density, liquid storage, and use of existing infrastructure, ammonia is appealing [...]
H2-View News: Hydrogen costs too project-specific for universal price targets: Wood Mac event
Setting a target per-kilo price for producing hydrogen is not that useful, since every hydrogen project has its own dynamics and economics. The price question was posed and tackled during a panel on hydrogen project risks at analyst group Wood Mackenzie’s Hydrogen Conference 2025 in London. Christian Stuckmann, Vice-President of Business Development in Hydrogen at energy company Uniper, said the company’s projects in the UK, Germany, and the Netherlands had no top-level target price attached for good reasons. H2-View News: Scania begins hydrogen fuel cell truck trials with logistics firm Asko
The Swedish vehicle manufacturer has established a collaboration with Asko Norge to evaluate the technical performance, operational feasibility and commercial potential of hydrogen trucks. Asko Norge is one of Norway’s largest food wholesale and distribution companies, supplying groceries to retailers nationwide. Initial hydrogen truck tests with Asko have shown ranges of up to 1,000km. “Being part of Scania’s Pilot Partner initiative gives us a unique opportunity to test and influence the development of sustainable solutions that fit our operations,” explained Jørn Arvid Endresen, CEO of Asko Midt. Scania’s Pilot Partner programme is designed to test new technologies with a small [...]
H2-View News: Ohmium claims 50% iridium reduction in new PEM electrolyser
The firm said it came as a result of stripping iridium use by 50% in its second-generation Lotus system, reducing overall system capital investments. Iridium is used as a catalyst in PEM electrolysers due to its high conductivity and resistance to acidic environments. However, the metal fetches around $4,500 per troy ounce, with only around 7–9 tonnes produced per year as a byproduct of nickel and copper mining. “We have made significant strides in reducing iridium usage in our PEM electrolysers, exceeding the 2030 industry target of 10GW per tonne,” said Dr Chock Karuppaiah, Ohmium Chief Science and Technology Officer.
