H2-View News: Chinese duo comes on board Spanish hydrogen projects worth up to €1bn
According to local reports from Valencia Noticias, the president of the Shanghai Shaanyao Group, Roger Dejun, revealed the new partnership at the third National Green Hydrogen Congress in Huelva. The Chinese industrial developer will join the projects with compatriot clean technology company Eontsing to provide technological capabilities alongside MASPV’s local energy sector expertise. In meetings relating to the operations planned for 2026, Dejun hailed Spain’s regulatory framework, industrial capacity, and institutional commitment as offering great conditions for green hydrogen production. “Through MASPV, we have been able to analyse specific and advanced projects, allowing us to evaluate investment opportunities with a [...]
H2-View News: German e-gasoline producer looks to HIF’s Uruguay project for e-methanol supply
Under a head of agreement, HIF plans to supply e-methanol produced at its planned 1.1GW project in Uruguay to German eFuel One, which is looking to set up an e-gasoline project in Lower Saxony. While the deal sets a framework for negotiating definitive offtake, it does not yet constitute a binding supply agreement. The plans would see HIF e-methanol imported into Germany through the Port of Hamburg, with German eFuel One expected to upgrade the chemical into e-gasoline and other fuels for transport applications. E-methanol produced by HIF’s $5.3bn Paysandú project in Uruguay is planned to meet EU rules on [...]
H2-View News: UK airport’s operations trial advances airside hydrogen deployment
Part of the Zero Carbon Turn project led by Exeter Airport, the trial brought together a hydrogen internal combustion tug, a hydrogen fuel cell baggage tractor, and a hybrid hydrogen-diesel ground power unit (GPU) to support a live turnaround of a Boeing 737. The new report highlights the April 2025 trial as a landmark but also underscores the need to shift from one-off demonstrations to broader, more integrated trials. It identified trialling hydrogen under “real-world” operating conditions, comparing operational models for storage and refuelling, and developing a platform for sharing information on hydrogen adoption at airports. The trial was backed [...]
H2-View News: Technip secures EPC contract for Dutch SAF plant
The engineering and technology company will provide EPC services for the project in Delfzijl, being developed by Dutch airline KLM’s SAF subsidiary SkyNRG. The DSL-O1 plant will use the Hydroprocessed Esters and Fatty Acids (HEFA) production pathway, utilising waste feedstocks such as used cooking oil. However, it will feature an on-site steam methane reformer (SMR) plant for hydrogen production. SMRs are a primary production method for grey hydrogen, typically emitting 9–12kg of carbon dioxide per kilogram of hydrogen produced. Technip has not revealed whether the plant would be equipped with carbon capture technology. H2 View has contacted Technip for confirmation. [...]
H2-View News: Cummins to cut 100 jobs at Belgian electrolyser plant: reports
The factory in Oevel, originally operated by Hydrogenics prior to its acquisition by Cummins, has been active for over 25 years with around 250 workers. Despite Cummins doubling the site’s manufacturing capacity to 1GW between 2022 and 2023 thanks to EU funding, the firm is now due to lay off approximately 100 employees. According to Belgian News Agency, trade unions said Cummins management revealed plans to cut 85 jobs at the end of 2025 while it was undertaking a strategic review of its electrolyser business. At the same time, one of the site’s two production lines was closed. However, after [...]
H2-View News: UK nuclear power-to-liquid SAF demo heads to pre-FEED
Energy engineering firm Kent said it had been awarded a pre-front-end engineering design (pre-FEED) contract for the Eq.flight power-to-liquid demonstration project. The project, which secured £1m ($1.36m) in funding from the UK Department of Transport last year, plans to use solid oxide electrolysis, reverse water-gas shift, Fischer-Tropsch synthesis, and direct air capture technologies to produce SAF. It will use nuclear electricity and heat as the energy source for the process, which the lead partner Equilibrion says could cut the fuel’s carbon intensity by 90–95% compared to conventional jet fuel. While the demonstrator’s location and commissioning timeline remain undisclosed, Kent said [...]
H2-View News: Utility Global raises $100m to scale electricity-free gas-to-hydrogen systems
The capital, raised from a Series D round led by private equity firm Ara Partners and pension investor APS Asset Management, will finance Utility’s manufacturing expansion and support commercial deployments across the Americas, Europe, and Asia. The US-based company’s H2Gen system produces hydrogen from low-pressure steam and pre-treated gases like industrial off-gas or biogas, alongside high-purity carbon dioxide. The firm claims it offers a low-cost, feedstock-versatile and modular solution which could be used in steel, chemicals, or refining plants to displace grey hydrogen consumption. Utility CEO, Parker Meeks, said the funding could help unlock the firm’s transition to commercial deployments. [...]
H2-View News: Environment Agency approves AFC’s ammonia-to-hydrogen sales
A revision to AFC’s research and development permit advances the commercialisation of its Dunsfold ammonia-to-hydrogen pilot facility in Surrey, which the company says can produce up to 300kg per day. John Wilson, CEO of AFC, said the new approval would advance the company’s revenue generation by “a number of months.” Ammonia cracking will underpin the company’s business model, which looks to supply fuel cell generators and hydrogen cracked from ammonia on-site to end-users. AFC is also progressing hydrogen production in collaboration with its joint-venture (JV) partner, Industrial Chemicals Group (ICL). The pair aims to establish production through a number of [...]
H2-View News: Gascade advances pipeline segment for German hydrogen network
The company aims to build a new 15km stretch of pipeline and a hydrogen pressure regulating station (WDRM) by 2029. The planned segment, named Hylu, is intended to take gas from the 679km Midal pipeline, running on the north-south axis in central Germany, and transport it between the town of Lampertheim and the city of Ludwigshafen am Rhein. Gascade began converting Midal for hydrogen in spring 2025. Preliminary work on the Hylu pipeline, which Gascade intends to complete by fall 2026, will include mapping, surveying work, site investigations, and explosive ordnance surveys. Gascade says that the WDRM facility will be [...]
H2-View News: HEA warns UK hydrogen delays risk investment flight and job losses
The organisation’s joint letter to the Department of Energy Security and Net Zero said that without intervention it risks lagging behind international competitors. The letter called for “rapid progression” of the long-awaited Hydrogen Strategy Refresh and the publication of project outcomes of the second Hydrogen Allocation Round (HAR2). Dr Emma Guthrie, CEO of HEA, stressed the sector’s readiness to “invest, build, and deliver” and said that delays to HAR initiatives are eroding investor confidence and pushing capital and skill elsewhere. The organisation highlighted faster decision-making, clearer demand signalling, and better alignment across departments as crucial improvements identified in its recently [...]
