H2-View News: Clean Hydrogen Partnership launches call for funding proposals in €105m round
The funding from Horizon Europe aims to back projects that could bring innovations closer to market, covering hydrogen production and storage through to fuel cells. €25m ($29.3m) is reserved for Hydrogen Valleys – the EU’s cluster initiative, designed to ramp up regional hydrogen value chains. This leaves €80m ($93.7m) available for various elements of hydrogen technology advancement, including €16m ($18.7m) for green hydrogen production, €17.5m ($20.5m) for hydrogen storage and distribution, €25m for transport, €16m for heat and power, and €5.5m ($6.4m) for crosscutting. Applications open on 10 February and must be submitted before 15 April, via the EU’s Funding [...]
H2-View News: AFC builds first 30kW liquid-cooled hydrogen generator
The LC30 generator, which AFC hopes can displace diesel generators, offers a 50% mass reduction, 45% reduced volumes, while being 20% efficient than the company’s previous versions. It is also slated to have an increased operating range, from -20°C to +50°C, and can accommodate 100KW fuel cell to increase output on demand. AFC says the unit will achieve regulatory approval, progressing to certification and pre-production. It has not yet specified a timeline. It comes as the culmination of a 10-month programme working with power solution manufacturing firm Volex, where AFC aimed to improve the economics of its generators. John Wilson, [...]
H2-View News: Honda to mothball hydrogen fuel cell making with General Motors
Honda said it would scrap making the technology through its Fuel Cell System Manufacturing (FCSM) JV, which only began “mass” production in 2024 at a facility in Michigan, US. The company said the JV yielded “some positive results”, and the pair “reached an agreement” to discontinue fuel cell making at FCSM after discussions about the “continuation” of the business. Neither company has stated whether the FCSM JV will be scrapped altogether. However, last October, GM halted the development of next-generation fuel cells being worked on in Michigan. This latest move from Honda suggests the FCSM facility in Brownstown could essentially [...]
H2-View News: EU opens offtaker phase after 260 hydrogen projects respond to matchmaking call
The Commission said domestic and international companies showed “significant interest” in the supply-side calls of its Hydrogen Mechanism, drawing offers from more than 260 projects. This new phase will remain open until 20 March 2026, with potential buyers encouraged to sign up. The Hydrogen Mechanism falls under the EU Energy and Raw Materials Platform, which aims to match supply and demand for raw materials, natural gas, and biomethane. Energy Commissioner Dan Jørgensen said the instrument was off to a “very promising start.” “The Hydrogen Mechanism is one of the instruments which will help us to make our energy system cleaner, [...]
H2-View News: Six projects sign grant contracts for €270m from second European Hydrogen Bank round
Six green hydrogen projects selected for per kilogramme subsidies in the second European Hydrogen Bank auction have signed grant agreements representing €270.6m ($317.5m). The projects, located in Finland, Spain, and Norway, will receive between €0.33 ($0.39) and €1.88 ($2.21) per kilogramme of renewable fuels of non-biological origin (RFNBO)-compliant produced over 10 years, funded by Emissions Trading Scheme revenues. H2-View News: Hydrogen aviation lobby group praises £43m UK green flight funding
The government says the funding could unlock investment and decarbonisation, and drive “millions” into the sector. The scheme will open calls to UK businesses, researchers, and universities to compete for a share of the funding by demonstrating research and development potential that can accelerate clean aviation. The HIA, made up of companies like easyJet, Rolls-Royce, Airbus, and GKN Aerospace, said the £43m will help ensure the UK is a leader in hydrogen-powered aviation. The government has not indicated which specific technologies it is looking to support. However, it comes after it has firmed up its plans to support sustainable aviation [...]
H2-View News: Rental cars in Chile to use green hydrogen-based e-fuel
This summer, Toyota hybrid vehicles supplied by rental firm Mitta in southern Chile will use e-gasoline produced by HIF’s Haru Oni e-fuel plant. The Route Zero scheme will see 2,500 litres of e-fuel dispensed from a petrol station in Punta Arenas, representing a modest offtake from the 130,000 litres per year Haru Oni plant. It is likely these volumes will only make up a small portion of all fuel consumed, with drivers expected to cover over 18,000 miles. The e-gasoline, produced by combining green hydrogen with recycled carbon dioxide, is chemically identical to petrol, meaning no vehicles or refuelling infrastructure [...]
Hydrogen Council News: Hydrogen Council announces new Board composition; welcomes Baker Hughes
BRUSSELS, January 20, 2026 – The Hydrogen Council, the world’s largest and only CEO-led hydrogen alliance, is pleased to announce Baker Hughes as its newest board member and to confirm the re-election of Johnson Matthey, Sasol, Sinopec and Topsoe for a new mandate. The new board composition, effective January 1, 2026, reflects the Hydrogen Council’s continued evolution as the sector enters its next phase of delivery. The Board is represented at the highest level by global CEOs committed to providing strategic leadership and accelerating hydrogen deployment at scale. Baker Hughes, which joined the Hydrogen Council in 2020, brings deep expertise across [...]
H2-View News: Trio looks to build low-carbon ammonia supply chain for shipping
Under the memorandum of understanding (MOU), the firms will work together on market development, stakeholder engagement, and bunkering logistics, with an initial focus on the US Gulf Coast and Northwest Europe. The plans could see CF supply low-carbon ammonia from its carbon capture-retrofitted Donaldsonville plant in Louisiana, with Trafigura offering commodity logistics support. TFG, a joint venture between Trafigura and shipping companies Frontline and Golden Ocean Group, could also provide support through its marine fuel supply network for last-mile delivery, coordinating bunkering demand, and fuel transportation. It comes after CF and Trafigura worked on the first shipment of low-carbon ammonia [...]
H2-View News: Tosoh claims improved conductivity and durability with new PEM electrolyte
The company says the hydrocarbon-based polymer electrolyte improves proton conductivity, gas barrier properties, and reduces hydrated state swelling when compared to conventional PEM materials. Tosoh also says it avoids the use of fluorine-based PFAS membranes, which while offer high performance and durability, raise concerns due to their environmental persistence, health risks, and increasing regulatory pressure. Tosoh has begun providing samples to select users and is planning its commercial launch as soon as possible. With PEM increasingly the technology of choice in green hydrogen production worldwide, the effectiveness of PEM membranes becomes an important factor in the levelised cost of hydrogen. [...]
