H2-View News: India presses the hydrogen accelerator
Today’s big news, that NTPC Green Energy will develop a $22.3bn green hydrogen hub in Andhra Pradesh, capable of producing 1,500 tonnes of green hydrogen and 7,500 tonnes of derivatives daily, cannot be overstated. Read more: NTPC to develop 1,500 tpd green hydrogen hub in India Industrial clusters lie at the heart of India’s green hydrogen strategy because collaboration between industries, public institutions and stakeholders can drive economic growth, create sustainable jobs and significantly cut emissions. Such clusters not only provide scalable models for green hydrogen production, they also lay the groundwork for infrastructure that can support both domestic needs [...]
H2-View News: Yamna secures land at Port of Açu for major green ammonia hub
Located in the port industrial complex of the Port of Açu, in the northeast of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the hub is expected to require around 1.8GW of electrolysers to fulfil its targeted ammonia production output. Under the contract, Yamna will be granted a further two square km to the one square km that the British firm had already been allocated. H2 View understands that Yamna plans to take FID in 2027 before the first green molecules are produced in 2030. “The process leading to the signature of the land reservation agreement has been highly collaborative and efficient, and we [...]
H2-View News: US clean energy tax credit safeguards ‘save $1 trillion’
Without safeguards, hydrogen producers could potentially claim the highest level of tax credits ($3 per kilogramme) for producing ‘gray’ hydrogen from fossil natural gas, by blending in small amounts of biomethane or waste methane. Allowing this blending could support about 35 million metric tonnes of hydrogen production per year, leading to the extra taxpayers’ costs and excess emissions of around three billion tonnes of CO2 versus scenarios assuming strict methane control. On 3rd January 2025, the US Treasury Department finalised regulations that align with several of the recommendations from the new study, a draft of which was submitted to the Treasury Department [...]
H2-View News: NTPC to develop 1,500 TPD green hydrogen hub in India worth $22.3bn
The ‘NTPC Green Energy LTD Green Hydrogen Hub’ will be launched under the country’s National Green Hydrogen Mission and is expected to contribute to India’s capacity target of 500GW by 2030. The strategy has encouraged the domestic production of electrolysers, so NTPC could potentially use products developed by Reliance Industries or L&T. Read more: RIL to manufacture Nel’s alkaline electrolysers in India under license H2 View understands that the hub will be equipped with a capacity of 20GW of renewable energy capacities, making it one of India’s largest integrated green hydrogen production facilities. The derivatives set to be produced at Pudimadaka include [...]
H2-View News: Vale and GreenIron partner to build hydrogen-based iron ore supply chain
Under a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), the two companies will focus on the supply of Vale’s iron ore agglomerates to GreenIron’s commercial operations in Sandviken, Sweden, where hydrogen is being used to produce iron. Through a feasibility study, they will explore a suitable site for the Brazilian project, considering renewable energy and resource supply options. H2 View understands that GreenIron’s technology is flexible in terms of feedstock options and capacity tailored to clients, reportedly delivering lower costs and compatibility with the use of green hydrogen. The commercial operations at Sandviken are being commissioned and scale-up is expected for 2025. Read [...]

H2-View News: Fortescue and partners to begin testing PWS green hydrogen pilot plant this year
The PWS technology directly uses sunlight and photocatalysts to produce green hydrogen, which reportedly eliminates the need for renewable electricity or electrolysers, therefore reducing costs. Stage 2 development is progressing with front-end engineering design (FEED) completion and site planning approvals are expected in this month (January), whilst equipment procurement is also underway. H2 View understands that the facility will be finished by mid-2025 and will test PWS using concentrated solar mirrors, advancing reactor TRL from 5 to 6 through semi-continuous ‘on-sun’ operation. Japan’s Shinshu University will supply the photocatalyst materials to the Roseworthy site in Adelaide, and the engineering, procurement [...]
H2-View News: Penspen to assess hydrogen blending feasibility for 877km Trans Adriatic Pipeline
The 877km Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), connecting the Trans Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP) at the Greek-Turkish border to Italy’s gas network, is exploring hydrogen integration to support capacity expansion, sustainability, and regional decarbonisation. The TAP transmission system operators (TSOs) have not disclosed the targeted hydrogen blending ratio, but the consortium initiated an Initial Hydrogen Readiness study in 2021. TAP’s Managing Director, Luca Schieppati, claimed that the network has the “potential to become a significant contributor to Europe’s goal of achieving carbon neutrality,” which would include the supply of hydrogen blended with natural gas. “Evaluating whether our above-ground installations are hydrogen-ready for [...]
H2-View News: NER to support Topsoe in de-risking SOEC electrolyser products for hydrogen projects
H2 View understands that the deal with NER will support the Danish firm in de-risking their development and customers’ green hydrogen and power-to-X projects that will utilise Topsoe’s SOEC technology, such as First Ammonia. Furthermore, the deal could improve the rollout timelines of green hydrogen projects to deliver on the growing global demand. The contract will cover technical issues leading to temporary or permanent performance drop where coverage is provided to support cash flow and project revenue. The partnership between the two companies was announced following the completion of detailed technical due diligence of Topsoe’s SOEC electrolyser technology. “We see [...]
