H2-View News: CIP joins ambitious 800MW green hydrogen project in northern Germany

The Danish investor has joined Friesen Elektra Green Energy in developing the now-named project Anker in the Sande municipality near Wilhelmshaven. The project is expected to initially launch with 400MW of electrolysis capacity before doubling at a “later stage,” to produce 80,000 tonnes of green hydrogen per year. With plans to supply steel and chemical industries, Friesen Elektra has said the site’s location is connected to high-voltage power lines to make use of renewable energy all year round. Furthermore, its proximity to the future 9,000km hydrogen core network (HCN) means it could supply hydrogen via pipeline to industrial sites across [...]

H2-View News: Maire wins $125m EPCC contract to deliver hydrogen production unit to biorefinery

Under the contract, Maire has announced KT Kinetics Technology, supported by NextChem, will develop the unit which is expected to produce around four tonnes per hour of hydrogen for sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and hydrogenated vegetable oil (HVO) production. Maire has commissioned NextChem to provide its NX Reform technology for the hydrogen production unit (HPU). The HPU will be delivered to the biorefinery in the Penerang Integrated Complex in Johor, Malaysia, which is expected to become operational in 2028. Once operations have begun, Pengerang Biorefinery Sdn wants to produce approximately 650,000 tonnes per year of raw materials such as vegetable [...]

H2-View News: New Mexico co-op lands $231m for hydrogen, solar and wastewater energy project

Kit Carson Electric Cooperative (KCEC) said it would be using the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) to develop 104MW of power production from green hydrogen and solar with battery energy storage systems (BESS). The firm plans to produce green hydrogen from repurposed wastewater from a former mining site in the village of Questa and create energy storage technology that could last up to 16 hours. Hydrogen produced through electrolysis will be stored and converted back to electricity when solar and battery storage cannot meet local power demands. Hoped to enhance system reliability, KCEC has said the project “aims to reduce [...]

H2-View News: Partners test and validate liquid hydrogen engine for light aviation market

The three companies conducted tests at Air Liquide’s Grenoble Technologies Campus in France last September, completing a ground demonstration testing of the aeroengine based on an ultra-efficient regenerative cycle and fed from a liquid hydrogen tank. This followed a demonstration test in January 2024 as part of the BeautHyFuel project, designed to explore hydrogen propulsion solutions for light aircraft. An initial engine qualification test campaign was undertaken at ArianeGroup’s French site in Vernon. Here, hydrogen fuel was stored in gaseous form to perform an initial characterisation of the engine, before the engine was coupled to a cryogenic liquid storage system [...]

H2-View News: Rzeszów’s hydrogen bus plans hit roadblock as Polenergia backs out of 15-year supply deal

Last October, Polenergia’s H2Hub Nowa Sarzyna business unit secured a 15-year contract to deliver hydrogen for 20 buses as part of a PLN 120 million ($29m) bid, despite MPK Rzeszów, the city’s public transport company, only budgeting for PLN 86m ($21m). However, Polenergia announced its withdrawal from the tender on January 9, 2025, stating, “Subsidiary Polenergia H2HUB Nowa Sarzyna has identified circumstances preventing the conclusion of the public procurement contract no. DW.TZ.1.2024 for ‘Supply and Distribution of Hydrogen Fuel.’” It is uncertain whether Polenergia’s withdrawal will derail the city’s plans to introduce hydrogen-powered public transport. Rzeszów received around PLN 70m [...]
