H2-View News: Envision’s AI green hydrogen system selected for 500MW Brazilian project
FRV, which is owned by Saudi Arabia’s Jameel Energy, will use the Chinese wind turbine maker’s AI-integrated renewable energy system to build the H2 Cumbuco’s 500MW electrolyser plant. Scheduled to begin output from 2030, the facility will supply both export and domestic markets. It is currently in “advanced development”, including engineering and environmental permitting. If successful, the project could be expanded to 2GW of electrolysers, producing 1.6 million tonnes of green ammonia per year. Envision’s AI system, which was recently unveiled at its own green ammonia plant in Dallan, China, supports off-grid production by converting surplus renewable power into liquid [...]

H2-View News: Hydrogen insurance market to exceed $3bn by 2030: Allianz
The “Hydrogen: Opportunities, uses and risks in the energy transition” report underscored the crucial role insurers, such as Allianz, will play in de-risking hydrogen projects – especially those involving emerging technologies and large-scale infrastructure. Driving the $3bn forecast is the over 1,500 hydrogen projects that have been announced as of mid-2024, requiring an estimated $680bn in investment by 2030. Unlike conventional fuels, Allianz stressed that hydrogen poses unique and well-known risks, such as embrittlement, high flammability, and leak potential, which demand bespoke coverage. As a result, Allianz noted, “Underwriters must carry out due diligence when providing coverage to prototypes, while [...]
H2-View News: ACWA awards FEED contract for 4.4GW Saudi green hydrogen project
The front-end engineering design (FEED) contract was awarded to a joint venture (JV) between the Spanish and Chinese companies, and will encompass the design of the 400,000-tonne green hydrogen plant and subsequent conversion to ammonia. The Yanbu Green Hydrogen project plans to combine 10GW of wind and solar power, and 4.4GW of electrolysis to produce 2.5 million tonnes of green ammonia per year for export. The facility will be located in Yanbu Industrial City on the Red Sea coast, a key hub for Saudi Arabia’s hydrogen ambitions. The project’s first phase is scheduled to come online in 2030. The 10-month [...]
H2-View News: Uniper secures rights to explore hydrogen salt caverns in Cheshire
Under a feasibility development agreement, Uniper holds exclusive rights to assess all 13 caverns of the Salinae Hydrogen Storage project for hydrogen storage. The companies will jointly design the first two wells for potential hydrogen storage caverns, with development contingent on Uniper securing planning approval and government support. With no established hydrogen market, Uniper says a government-backed business model is needed to move the project forward. “Flexible energy storage is a fundamental component of both the energy transition and the security of the UK’s energy supply,” explained John Rixham, Uniper Head of Hydrogen Storage Development for the UK. “Cheshire has [...]
H2-View News: ‘Fundamental reset’ | Ballard targets 30% cost cuts, shifts focus to high-margin hydrogen fuel cells
The goal comes as part of a strategic realignment announced by new President and CEO Marty Neese, as the company looks to turn the tide on its finances. Pitched as a “fundamental reset” in how the company operates, innovates, Neese said Ballard would be focusing on “the market as it is.” “We are aligning the Company around real, near-term opportunities where we have proven product-market fit and clear customer value, while driving toward a sustainable business model rooted in operational excellence and margin discipline,” he said. A company statement said the plan would involve “difficult decisions”, including job cuts. In [...]
H2-View News: Hyphen selects China’s CC7 to engineer 3GW green ammonia project
The facility, which is understood to be the world’s largest hydrogen-based ammonia project, is worth around $10bn and set to produce over two million tonnes of the hydrogen carrier per year once at full scale in 2030. China National Chemical Engineering Company subsidiary CC7 has been awarded the front-end engineering and design (FEED) and engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contracts. H2 View understands that the firm is one of the largest EPC corporations in the world. Since it was founded in 1964, CC7 has completed more than 600 domestic projects in the fields of chemical industry and municipal works, including [...]

H2-View News: HydrogenOne fund to return cash to shareholders in managed realisation
The London-listed investment trust said it would pursue a “managed realisation” of its assets, following a review which cited limited scale, and inability to raise follow-on capital, and persistently wide share price discounts to NAV. To support the wind-down, HydrogenOne has appointed Redwheel Asset Management LLP as its new investment adviser and Global Fund Management Services (GFM) as the Alternative Investment Fund Manager. Redwheel replaces HydrogenOne Capital LLP, the trust’s founding adviser, while GFM takes over from Fundrock Partners. The board said the appointments were made to reduce costs and improve shareholder outcomes during the process. Under the revised structure, [...]
