H2-View News: BP backs 1.2GW H2Teesside plans amid data centre clash
The oil and gas major is seeking a Development Consent Order (DCO) from the government after Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council approved landowner South Tees Group’s (STG) bid to build one of Europe’s largest data centres. Reports state that Teesworks Ltd has objected to BP’s plans, arguing the hydrogen and carbon capture scheme would render the proposed data centre, planned on 115 acres earmarked for H2Teesside, unviable. BP, meanwhile, told H2 View it is willing to find a “position of co-existence” that allows both developments to move forward. “The DCO process for the H2Teesside project is well advanced, and in [...]
H2-View News: Grey hydrogen set to dominate US supply through 2050, says EIA
Grey hydrogen is expected to remain the dominant source of the molecule in the US through 2050, even as total production increases by around 80%, according to the US Energy Information Administration (EIA). By mid-century, the EIA estimates that electrolysers will account for less than 1% of hydrogen production, despite the presence of supportive policies, while blue hydrogen’s relatively small role will be underpinned by tax credits. H2-View News: Mitsubishi Power converts Egyptian boiler to 100% hydrogen
Reportedly the first commercial use of hydrogen as a boiler fuel in both Egypt and the MENA region, it has the potential to offset approximately 24,000 tonnes of natural gas consumption per year. Mitsubishi has said the boiler, located at the Alexandria National Refining and Petrochemicals Company (ANRPC) refinery, uses byproduct hydrogen, already produced at the facility. Instead of wasting the gas, the refinery now captures and uses the hydrogen as a fuel, amounting to around 14,000 tonnes of hydrogen-rich gas per year. Javier Cavada, President and CEO, Europe, Middle East and Africa at Mitsubishi Power, said the conversion is [...]
H2-View News: Fuel Cell Systems to supply hydrogen refuelling tech for M4 HGV corridor
The Protium Green subsidiary, HyHaul Mobility, is developing three refuelling stations to support the deployment of up to 30 hydrogen fuel cell trucks. Last month, the company invested £14m ($19m) to purchase the equipment and associated civil works required. FCSL will act as the official hydrogen refuelling infrastructure partner for the project. Its HyFleet systems will be deployed at the Reading and Avonmouth locations. The UK-based company claimed the technology is capable of providing on-site hydrogen storage, compression and dispensing. Manufactured in West Berkshire, Dr. Lee Juby, CEO of FCSL, said the HyFleet systems are built to meet the demands [...]

H2-View News: Horizon to install 10MW AEM electrolyser system at Chinese steel plant
The hydrogen produced will be injected into the gas pipeline feeding the blast furnace operations at Rockcheck Steel Group’s facility in Tianjin. H2 View understands that the hydrogen will be blended with traditional fuels to lower emissions. Green hydrogen will be produced using solar power from a 17MW building-integrated photovoltaic system. The electrolysers are designed to handle intermittent renewable energy sources. Horizon claims the system will be the world’s first operational AEM electrolyser, with commissioning targeted for late 2025. If the Tianjin initiative is successful, Horizon plans to roll out its AEM electrolysers globally, pairing them with solar, wind and [...]
H2-View News: Middle Eastern-backed waste-to-hydrogen project set for UK’s Thames Freeport
The project, being developed by Thames Freeport and UK start-up Chinook Hydrogen, plans to build a 12-tonne-per-day hydrogen plant on a brownfield site on the bank of the Thames in Tilbury to provide refuelling and off-grid EV charging. The developers are targeting 2028 for the first hydrogen production with hopes of supporting a national hydrogen refuelling network. Parallel to the Tilbury plant, the partners are eyeing a five-tonne-per-day project in Doncaster to act as a regional fuelling node. Using Chinook’s Rodecs technology to convert waste materials into hydrogen-rich syngas through high-temperature gasification and pyrolysis, the team says the projects will [...]
H2-View News: Shortened 45V window may jeopardise Exxon’s major blue hydrogen project, CEO warns
ExxonMobil’s CEO has warned that the shortened timeline under the 45V hydrogen tax credit could jeopardise the development of its flagship blue hydrogen project in Texas. Darren Woods told the oil and gas major’s latest earnings call that the new start-of-construction deadline – moved up from 2033 to the start of 2028 – may not provide enough time to secure sufficient offtakers for its Baytown project. “If we can’t see an eventual path to a market-driven business, we won’t move forward with the project,” he said. H2-View News: Hyundai to trial hydrogen bus and refuelling in Neom’s mountain region
In partnership with Neom’s energy and water subsidiary Enowa, they plan to test the hydrogen-powered Universe bus at high altitudes of 2,080m and steep 24% gradients. The project will simulate real-world passenger transport use cases, such as shuttle runs. The fuel cell-powered bus will use Enowa’s recently opened hydrogen refuelling station, which was part of a joint project with Air Products. H2 View understands that it’s the first station in the region. Hyundai called the trial an “important step in advancing Saudi Arabia’s vision, aimed at driving economic transformation and fostering future industries.” Large-scale projects, such as the $8.4bn Neom [...]
H2-View News: China’s Trina ships first containerised electrolyser to Portugal
Set to arrive in September 2025, the electrolyser has been described as “megawatt level” and it uses four standard containers. The delivered package integrates gas-liquid gas separators, compressors, purification and power systems. H2 View understands the equipment will be used in a Portuguese government-backed hydrogen refuelling station in Porto, led by an undisclosed project developer. Trina has said its containerised package features quick connect hoses for rapid plug-and-play deployment, which reportedly cuts delivery times by over 50%. The Chinese OEM added that the delivery represents a “continuation of Trina’s globalisation strategy.” “Through localised operation and maintenance networks, [Trina] will shorten [...]
