H2-View News: Fuel cell maker SFC acquires stake in Singapore-based security tech firm

The 15% stake – which followed a €6.6m ($7.6m) order from Oneberry – positions SFC to deploy its EFOY hydrogen fuel cell power solution in the southeast Asian AI-based security market. SFC said that the region sees spiking demand for resilient energy solutions in areas including border security, crowd management, amid growing geopolitical tensions, as well as emergency and disaster response It claims this spurred Oneberry – which operates security services including CCTV, mobile surveillance, and cyber defence – into the mass order for SFC’s fuel cell replacement for diesel generators. SFC makes both hydrogen and methanol-fuelled fuel cell power [...]

H2-View News: Hyundai deploys eight hydrogen trucks for timber logistics in Uruguay

The South Korean automotive major’s Xcient Class-8 heavy-duty trucks will transport timber for Uruguay’s leading pulp producer, using green hydrogen produced by a 77-tonne-per-year plant. Located in Fray Bentos, the Kahirós facility is due online by November 2026 and will use 4.8MW of onsite solar energy to produce the hydrogen through a 2MW electrolyser. The project is backed by $40m in investment from Santander Group, a $20m loan from the International Finance Corporation, and a $1m loan from the United Nations’ Renewable Energy Innovation Fund. According to Hyundai, deployment of the Xcient trucks – which have a 400km range – [...]

H2-View News: HyFive warns of e-fuel scarcity as it lines up offtake for Spanish plant

After signing a non-binding term sheet for the offtake of half the capacity of its 50MW e-methanol plant at a Spanish port with an unnamed party, the Bilbao-based firm took aim at the sluggish ramp-up of demand. The company announced that half of the capacity of its 100,000 tonne-per-year plant could be sold to an unnamed customer under a comprehensive term sheet for what it called “an agreed and mutually acceptable price range”. It went on to claim that while regulatory momentum is moving the shift to renewable fuels forward, production, infrastructure, and development cycles are likely to lag. While [...]

H2-View News: Viking floats out hydrogen-powered cruise ship ahead of 2026 debut

The ceremony was held at Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri’s shipyard in Ancona. The 54,500GT Viking Libra is equipped with a hybrid diesel-liquid hydrogen fuel cell propulsion system, which can allow operations to run purely on hydrogen. The PEM fuel cell system was made by Fincantieri subsidiary Isotta Fraschini Motori, which opened an EU-subsidised manufacturing line in Bari, Italy, in 2025. While specific details around the ship’s propulsion system have not been disclosed, Fincantieri said the hybrid system could deliver 6MW of power. Liquid hydrogen will be loaded and stored onboard using a containerised system. With 499 staterooms, the vessel can host [...]

H2-View News: More than 150 firms warn EU against weakening ETS amid fuel volatility

In a letter to European leaders, industrial and investment majors said the upcoming revision of the ETS should be used to improve its design in “very targeted ways,” rather than amending or suspending it. The ETS is Europe’s internal levy on industrial emitters of carbon dioxide (CO2), with prices currently averaging €80 ($91.8) to €100 ($114.7) per tonne of CO2 emitted. The scheme is designed to encourage emitters to decarbonise. Revenues are then reinvested by the EU into clean energy projects. It is seen as an effective way to drive clean hydrogen use across industries. With oil and gas prices [...]

H2-View News: Duo completes tests of 100% ammonia combustion engine

The test conducted at IHI’s purpose-built test facility builds on the pair’s 2024 joint development agreement and is aimed at commercialising the ammonia-fuelled engine by 2030. The facility was engineered to replicate GEV’s F-class gas turbine operating conditions. The Massachusetts-based energy technology company said its 9F gas turbine – the largest of the F-class range with which the engine is expected to be compatible – has a net output of 294MW. Noriaki Ozawa, IHI’s Managing Executive Officer, said the successful combustion represents significant development in a critical part of the ammonia value chain. “We see significant potential for ammonia as [...]

H2-View News: CertifHy adds Dekra to RFNBO accreditors

The inspection organisation joins France’s Bureau Veritas, Belgium’s Vinçotte, Germany’s TÜV SÜD and TÜV Rheinland, and Spain’s SGS as one of six companies accredited to conduct audits for official EU validation. These bodies can award producers a CertifHy EU RFNBO certificate validating their hydrogen as green. Dekra is a member of the Spanish Hydrogen Association and, in a statement, highlighted the importance of RFNBO certification in Spain as the country looks to strengthen its position as a hydrogen supplier in Europe. The firm uses numerous Spanish facilities to provide testing, evaluation, and certification services. To access subsidies and comply with [...]

H2-View News: KBR wins FEED contract for Amsterdam liquid hydrogen and CO2 terminal

The port infrastructure is being headed by CO2 shipper EcoLog, which has plans to explore importing LH2 from low-cost production regions like the Nordics and the Middle East. If built, the terminal could handle up to 200,000 tonnes of LH2 imports and 1.8 million tonnes of LCO2 exports per year. EcoLog also intends to reserve the option to expand the facility to 600,000 and 4.25 million tonnes, respectively. Under the FEED contract, which is expected to be concluded this year, KBR will define the engineering basis, storage systems, operational parameters and safety standards for the terminal. LH2 would be transported [...]

H2-View News: Technip Energies buys into French 80,000-tonne green hydrogen-based SAF project

Having invested in Verso Energy’s DEZiR project, Technip and its Rely joint venture with electrolyser firm John Cockerill will contribute technology and engineering measures for advancing the project toward operation by 2030. The facility, expected to produce 80,000 tonnes of eSAF per year, was one of 13 hydrogen-based projects selected to receive a share of €2.9bn ($3.2bn) from the EU under its latest Innovation Fund round. Rely is carrying out front-end engineering design (FEED) for the plant, while Technip will provide its Canopy carbon capture system, at industries near the site, enabling the use of captured biogenic carbon dioxide for [...]

H2-View News: Bosch launches electrolyser stacks in North America after US system goes live

The company commissioned a 1.25MW electrolyser system at the Farmington Hills site to produce hydrogen for testing its electrolyser stacks and fuel cells. It mirrors a 2.5MW system installed at the firm’s Bamberg facility, where it makes the stacks in Germany, which came online last November. With the US electrolyser now operational, Bosch said its Hybrion stacks are available to North American buyers. “These systems are provided through our integration partners,” it said. Bosch launched its Hybrion stacks last April with initial plans to supply system integrators like Neuman & Esser, AKA Energy Systems, and Andritz, as well as Chinese [...]
