H2-View News: UK National Wealth Fund targets hydrogen and carbon capture in £5.8bn plan
The UK National Wealth Fund (NWF) will back 10 sectors, including hydrogen, carbon capture, battery making, and energy storage, under a new strategic plan committing £5.8bn ($7.99bn).
H2-View News: Orlen taps Finnish green hydrogen players for future supply
The state-controlled oil and gas firm inked cooperation agreements with ABO Energy Suomi, Nordic Ren-Gas, and VolagHy Kuopio to develop models of future hydrogen and derivative supplies to Poland. All three companies are progressing plans for large-scale green hydrogen and derivative production in Finland. ABO is developing a combined 100,000 tonnes of hydrogen production, Nordic Ren-Gas is pursuing e-methane, and VolagHy is looking to make synthetic fuel from hydrogen. While Orlen says this will enable the exploration of a new model for future hydrogen supply and the development of hydrogen technologies in Poland, the companies are due to look at [...]
H2-View News: Sunfire to supply alkaline electrolysers for Repsol’s two 100MW hydrogen plants
Each will consist of ten 10MW electrolysers and produce up to 15,000 tonnes of hydrogen annually for the decarbonisation of the oil major’s refining processes. The German company will install its pressurised alkaline electrolysers at Repsol’s industrial complex in Cartagena and its oil refinery in Muskiz, outside of Bilbao. Upon commissioning, expected for 2029, each system could prevent up to 167,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions per year. Sunfire has previously delivered electrolysers for customers including Rheinmetall, Uniper, and Neste. CEO of Sunfire, Nils Aldag, hailed Spain’s potential for green hydrogen, saying that its collaboration with Repsol is advancing the [...]
H2-View News: CF low-carbon ammonia used in US corn-to-ethanol supply chain
The hydrogen and nitrogen product maker said it has partnered with Poet and major agricultural cooperatives to demonstrate how lower-carbon fertilisers can cut the carbon intensity of corn and enable the production of lower-carbon ethanol. Ammonia fertilisers produced at CF’s carbon capture and storage (CCS)-equipped Donaldsonville plant began reaching corn growers in Minnesota, Missouri, Iowa, and Nebraska last autumn. Poet intends to use corn grown with the low-carbon fertilisers at its ethanol production facilities in Minnesota, Iowa, and Nebraska, which Poet says could enable the production of up to 5–6 million gallons of ethanol. Poet Grain President, Christian McIlvan, said [...]
H2-View News: Hitachi concludes four-week hydrogen generator trial at UK construction site
The company’s Hyflex generator, fuelled with hydrogen from Air Products, along with a battery energy storage system (BESS), supplied a site in Staffordshire with an estimated 5.2MWh. Over the course of the self-funded trial, Hitachi says the installation avoided around five tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions compared to conventional diesel generators. Head of Grid & Power Quality Solutions and Service at Hitachi Energy, Marco Berardi, hailed the capability of the Hyflex system to deliver power where grid capacity is limited or non-existent. This comes as UK and European regulations aim to accelerate the decarbonisation of construction sites. Hitachi says policy [...]
H2-View News: India to meet just 6% of 2030 green hydrogen target as projects stall: Wood Mac

H2-View News: Topsoe ammonia tech selected for 4.4GW Saudi green hydrogen project
The Danish technology firm said it would provide its dynamic ammonia systems to the Yanbu Green Hydrogen Project to allow production to respond to fluctuating renewable energy supply. Topsoe said the flexibility could reduce both capital and operating costs by limiting the need for large-scale hydrogen storage. The firm will also deliver engineering, equipment and catalysts for its technology to China’s Sinopec and Spain’s Tecnicas Reunidas, who are carrying out front-end engineering design for the project. The Yanbu project plans to combine 10GW of wind and solar power with 4.4GW of electrolysis to produce up to 2.5 million tonnes of [...]
H2-View News: ZeroAvia cuts jobs and delays hydrogen powertrain certification: reports
FlightGlobal reported that the firm was now only pushing for certification of its hydrogen fuel cell system in 2027 rather than its originally planned complete powertrain, after around half of its workforce faced redundancies. It comes after ZeroAvia raised an undisclosed sum in December to increase its cash runway by two years. As a result of the limited funds and smaller workforce, the company will no longer pursue the development of both an electric propulsion system and the full ZA600 fuel cell powertrain. ZeroAvia originally planned to certify the ZA600 system in 2024. But now, it expects just the fuel [...]
H2-View News: Repsol pushes ahead with second 100MW electrolyser in Spain
Expected to be operational in 2029, the plant will produce up to 15,000 tonnes of green hydrogen annually for primary use at the Petronor refinery in Muskiz, outside of Bilbao. The firm said it could prevent up to 167,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions per year. The €292m ($346m) project has already secured €160m ($190m) in NextGenerationEU funds from the Spanish Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan, after being recognised as a Project of Common European Interest by the European Commission. Despite reducing its planned green hydrogen production plans last year, it will add to Repsol’s large-scale green hydrogen development after [...]
H2-View News: ‘Comparable to diesel’: Daimler unveils new liquid hydrogen truck with 2026 production plans
The NextGen2 vehicle builds on its GenH2 predecessor with increased fuel capacity, range, payload capability, and compatibility with trailers, with Daimler claiming it performs “comparable to conventional diesel trucks”. The truck inherits the BZA150 fuel-cell from Cellcentric from the GenH2 platform, which used between 5.6 and 8.0kg of hydrogen per 100km in the older model’s first trial. It will also feature a new boil-off management system featuring an integrated cooling system to ensure stable operating conditions, along with hydrogen sensors to allow overnight stays in the cab. Achim Puchert, CEO Mercedes-Benz trucks said that the NextGenH2 Truck, represents the “next [...]
