The Hydrogen Council, the world’s largest and only CEO-led global alliance comprising leading businesses and investors in hydrogen, is recruiting for a highly motivated Senior Marketplace Officer to contribute to its mission.

The goal of our “Marketplace” workstream is to drive business collaboration and connectivity amongst members and external stakeholders to catalyse B2B connectivity, coalition building on key issues/market opportunities and other collaborative efforts to accelerate clean hydrogen adoption globally.

We are looking for a structured, innovative and entrepreneurial colleague with deep understanding of hydrogen, cross-functional experience in business development and related fields (e.g. marketing, policy), strong membership service mindset and proven ability to work seamlessly in international multi-stakeholder environments.

As Senior Marketplace Officer, you will work closely with the Marketplace Manager at the Hydrogen Council as well as with our global team based out of Belgium, Germany, Spain and the UK, our members, partners and vendors.

 

Key responsibilities

Support Hydrogen Council’s Marketplace activities, in particular:

  1. Business Forum design and implementation:
  • Working closely with the Hydrogen Council team, members and partners, help create a unique agenda and experience for members at our annual “business forum” in key growth markets (e.g. China in 2025, India in 2026).
  • Support overall planning, agenda development, site-tour preparation, speaker recruitment, B2B networking and pitching program, materials development, budget as well as effective and efficient delegate management throughout the project (incl. briefing calls, IT tools and other), and post-event reporting.

2. Other Marketplace activities design and management:

  • Support design and delivery of Marketplace activities including coalitions, taskforces and other collaborative efforts for members focused on select key markets (e.g. China, USA) and/or priority issues (e.g. offtake in maritime, mobility).
  • Support planning, coordination, and monitoring of activities’ progress while ensuring seamless cross-functional collaboration with Hydrogen Council Research, Advocacy, Communications and Operations teams, members and partners involved.
  • In collaboration with our Research and Advocacy teams, as well as members, keep track of relevant market developments and identify additional opportunities for member collaboration, especially as it relates to key growth markets, demand activation, ecosystem development etc.

3. B2B Connectivity

  • Support design and delivery of member B2B networking opportunities, e.g. Hydrogen Council member-exclusive side events at relevant industry conferences.
  • Assist members in seeking project-related information, partnerships or other forms of collaboration.
  • Use relevant IT tools (Hydrogen Council mobile app, Cvent, etc.) to improve member connectivity and experience.
  1. Project management, Data management and IT tools:
  • Support organization of regular meetings of the Hydrogen Council Marketplace Committee and specific issue-/market- focused taskforces, including scheduling, agenda development, decks, notes and action lists.
  • Maintain up-to-date distribution lists to ensure efficient and accurate communication with members and external stakeholders.
  • Update Marketplace materials as appropriate to reflect the latest developments, technological advancements, and market trends.

Qualifications and skills

  • Experience: 8-10 years of relevant experience in similar roles within consulting, industry associations, or the private sector. Extensive experience in international business development is a core requirement. Understanding of and cross-functional experience in coalition building, policy, advocacy, communications, marketing and other related fields is a plus.
  • Issue knowledge: Deep understanding of energy, and hydrogen in particular, is a core requirement.
    • We strongly welcome candidates with hydrogen experience and/or expertise in the Americas, Asia and/or the Middle East.
  • Education: Postgraduate degree in Business, Science, Environmental Studies, International Relations, or a related field.
  • Languages: Native-equivalent or full professional proficiency in English. Knowledge of additional languages (e.g. Asian) is a plus.
  • Team player: Collaborative, adaptable, and able to work effectively with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and members to achieve shared objectives.
  • Advanced writing and presentation design skills: Strong experience in crafting clear, impactful messages and materials tailored to diverse audiences.
  • IT skills: Proficiency with usual data management tools (Excel) and willingness to learn new ones (Cvent, etc.). Excellent command of MS Office; experience with project management and collaboration tools is desirable.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail: Comfortable managing complex tasks, processes, databases, ensuring high levels of accuracy and efficiency.
  • Professional conduct: Diplomatic, discreet, and tactful in all interactions. Capable of representing the Hydrogen Council and its leadership with integrity, maintaining positive relationships with both members and external stakeholders.
  • Public speaking: willingness to represent the Hydrogen Council at international events.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable working in a fast-paced, multicultural, and hybrid work environment. Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively across different time zones and adapt to varying work requirements. 
  • Service mindset: Strong fit for a membership-based organization with a demonstrated ability to thrive in a member-driven trade group environment.
  • Flexibility: Given the Council’s global nature with member companies across the Americas, EMEA, and APAC, reasonable flexibility is required for accommodating meeting times and fostering collaborative relationships.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel, depending on the candidate’s location.

Other information

  • Contract type: full-time employee

  • Location: hybrid position, with the ability to travel to Brussels and work with the Hydrogen Council team in person on agreed occasions.
