As the Head of Operations, you will be reporting directly to the CEO of the Council and have a unique opportunity to become the driving force behind the seamless operations underpinning the mission of this dynamic organization.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the CEOManaging key processes of the Hydrogen Council: your responsibilities will cover all supporting processes of the Hydrogen Council including but not limited to general administration, accounting and finance, human resources, legal, contracting, facilities and ICT.At present, the Council Secretariat comprises a team of 10 team members based in different countries (Belgium, Canada, Germany, UK) and one physical office in Brussels, Belgium. This growing team is serving members coming from 20+ countries including the Americas, EMEA and APAC.Together with a small Operations team as well as key contractors and partners, you will manage the flow, cadence and continuity of operations in these areas and ensure the Hydrogen Council daily operations seamlessly support its mission. These responsibilities include budget as well as payroll management in several countries.Membership processes: you will oversee the work of the team members managing the processes that are specific to a membership organization such as the Hydrogen Council, including management of the membership base, as well as all governance processes.Event organization: you will also oversee the work of team members managing the planning and processes related to the organization of the Council’s annual flagship events as well as other events and meetings designed to foster collaboration and connectivity at different levels within the Council.

Qualifications and Skills

Background and experience: 20+ years of professional experience in similar roles, illustrating that you have the versatility, breadth and clock speed to keep up with the challenges of supporting our team and members.Preference for experience with trade groups, industry associations and/or other organizations registered in Belgium and knowledge of related business processes and procedures.Education: university degree is a requirement (specific field is open depending on relevant experience), preferably complemented by additional training in the managerial areas of concern (finance, social law, negotiation skills, etc.).Comfortable working in an international environment, spanning different continents, time-zones and cultures. Demonstrated ability to successfully operate in such settings is a strong plus.A service-oriented mindset, coupled with a commitment to excellence and continuous improvement.Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and contribute to a highly collaborative team culture.Flexibility: the Council is a global organisation with members based across all major time zones in Americas, EMEA and APAC. Reasonable flexibility is required in accommodating meeting times and developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with members.Excellent communication skills in English and at least one of the Belgian official languages is a must.Team management: 3-4 direct reports.Depending on the candidate’s location, this position may require some travel.
