At the Hydrogen Council’s 2025 Global CEO Summit in Seoul, South Korea, leaders didn’t just talk about hydrogen mobility – they experienced it.
For the first time, a major international business event used 100% hydrogen-powered transportation, thanks to a fleet of fuel cell vehicles and buses supplied by our Co-Chair, Hyundai Motor Group. As Jaehoon Chang, Vice Chair of Hyundai Motor Group and Co-Chair of the Hydrogen Council put it:
“By using 100% hydrogen-powered transport, we are walking the talk.”
The message from industry leaders in Seoul was clear:
- Hydrogen mobility is no longer in a pilot phase
- Vehicles are on the road today, across regions and use cases
- Infrastructure can scale when long-term public–private collaboration is in place
South Korea now has more than 40,000 hydrogen SUVs and over 2,600 hydrogen buses in daily operation, demonstrating that hydrogen-powered mobility is safe, reliable, and fully integrated into everyday life.
It is encouraging and empowering to see what is already working. Korea shows what is possible when policy, industry and infrastructure move together.
In our latest video, hear what our members have to say about hydrogen mobility in action in South Korea.
With thanks to Jaehoon Chang, Vice Chair of Hyundai Motor Group and Co-Chair of the Hydrogen Council; Nicholas Loughlan, Managing Director, and CTO of cellcentric and Carola Ruse, SVP Head of Business Unit Elextrolyzer at Bosch.
