Will the EU’s €2.9bn STIP plan move the needle on hydrogen-based fuels?

The European Commission’s Sustainable Transport Investment Plan (STIP) has pledged over €2.9bn ($3.3bn) to decarbonise aviation and shipping with hydrogen-based and other low-carbon fuels.

Part of the EU’s Clean Industrial Deal (CID), the plan is designed to unlock private investment and help both sectors switch from fossil fuels to hydrogen, ammonia, and e-fuels to meet 2035 ReFuelEU Aviation and FuelEU Maritime targets.
