Awarded to those considered authorities in applied electrochemistry, the Castner Medal is named in honour of Hamilton Young Castner (1858-1899), a scientist, engineer, and industrialist who is regarded as a pioneer in the field.
Recognised as a leader in the field, Hodgson’s work has seen the successful development and commercialisation of numerous electrochemical technologies including, advanced catalysts for water electrolysers and the chlor-alkali industry.
Having worked in the sector for over 30 years, Hodgson has focused on fuel cells, water treatment, batteries, and molten salt electrochemistry, most recently focusing on developing innovative models for technology development to fast-track commercial exploitation.
TFP says its mission is to supply the water electrolyser industry with materials to produce green hydrogen at lower costs. In May 2021, the company launched a new cost-effective catalysts system based on Platinum Group Metals (PGMs).
