Located at Munich Airport Business Park, the lab positions Sungrow directly in Europe’s hydrogen industry, closer to customers, regulators and partners.
H2 View understands that the facility complements Sungrow’s 30MW electrolysis demonstration platform and its established research centres in China to form a “complete innovation chain.”
The lab has also been built fully compliant with German safety regulations, which is important for production credibility and market entry.
In terms of technical capabilities, the facility is equipped with material development and fabrication and system validation, including pressurised electrochemical characterisation and PEM assembly.
Additionally, the lab is designed with capacity for future expansion, allowing it to scale as hydrogen technologies evolve.
Speaking to H2 View last month, Jason Jin, Sungrow Hydrogen’s Overseas Business Director, said Europe has always been a key strategic market for the Chinese firm.
Sungrow has been ramping up its international green hydrogen aspirations.
Already a major in solar PV manufacturing, the Chinese-headquartered company inked an agreement with a Portuguese firm in May to market, sell, and support its electrolysers in southern Europe.
