Stiesdal Hydrogen names KK Wind Solutions as key partner for hydrogen plants

The company has already supplied power supply units (PSUs) to Steisdal to manage the electrical power from renewable sources, and complete control systems to regulate the operation of alkaline electrolyser modules.

Under a new framework agreement, KK Wind Solutions will cover the repeat delivery of PSUs, electrolyser control systems, integrated cooling systems, and integration in scalable plant design.

Each Stiesdal hydrogen plant begins at around 12.4MW, using its standardised HydroGen 3.1MW electrolyser modules. This allows for modular expansion across its plants.

The two companies have worked together since 2021 and have even developed and deployed a prototype power conversion and control system. In 2023, Stiesdal used the system to produce its first kilogram of green hydrogen in Denmark.

KK Wind Solutions’ Michael Ariel Nielsen said the new framework agreement will demonstrate “combined expertise [to] enable stable and efficient hydrogen production.”

The Vice-President of Business Development added, “By combining the PSU and electrolyser control system, we are positioned to provide comprehensive power electronic and thermal management solutions for the green hydrogen sector.

Stiesdal Hydrogen uses Agfa’s Zirfon membranes to boost electrolyser performance, durability, and efficiency under variable renewable conditions.

Last year, at European Energy’s green hydrogen project in Måde, Denmark, Stiesdal officially deployed and operated its HydroGen electrolyser for the first time.
