The bus manufacturer announced that the municipal transport authority, Zarząd Transportu Miejskiego (ZTM) had signed a contract for the purchase and delivery of one of its Urbino 12 hydrogen buses.

H2 View understands the bus is expected to be deployed on public transport routes operated by Meijskie Przedsiębiorstwo Komunikacyjne (MPK) Lublin.

According to Solaris, the city will become the second in Poland, behind Konin to deploy hydrogen solutions in its bus fleets.

Javier Calleja, CEO of Solaris Bus & Coach, said, “Lublin is thus joining a select group of European towns and cities that are setting new benchmarks for planning and managing bus fleets. Our long-standing collaboration makes us proud. We will be happy to be a partner of ZTM Lublin’s in deploying hydrogen technology.”

Solaris’ Urbino 12 has seen deployment across numerous European towns and cities, with 70 currently in operation, it is expecting to deliver another 100 units over the coming months.

In September, the manufacturer launched its second hydrogen-powered bus offering, the Urbino 18, with extended range, it is hoped to provide more flexibility to operator’s needs.
