The order for the Urbino 12 hydrogen buses from MPK Poznań adds to the operators existing 58 electric Solaris buses, deepening its investment into zero-emission transport.

Expected to be delivered to the Polish city in the second half of 2023, Solaris says it came as the largest order for its Urbino hydrogen buses.

“Public transport in Poznań is entering the hydrogen age,” said Jacek Jaśkowiak, Mayor of Poznań. “This is a historic moment for the city’s public transport which is becoming increasingly environmentally friendly.”

Krzysztof Dostatni, CEO of MPK Poznań, commented, “This will be an absolute novelty in the fleet of carrier MPK Poznań. We hold great expectations with regard to these vehicles and I strongly believe that they will successfully play their part.”

Earlier this month (October 2022), Solaris announced it was set to deliver the ‘first’ hydrogen bus to the Polish city of Lublin.

Javier Calleja, CEO of Solaris Bus & Coach, said, “Poznań is investing in clean technologies, in innovation and in the future. This huge order put the carrier among the most modern public transport operator in Europe, those that are focused first and foremost on clean air in cities and improving quality of life for the next generation of their residents.”

H2 View’s Hydrogen Mobility Snap Summit – November 29

With the mobility pillar consistently a hot topic for hydrogen markets and arguably the most anticipated and relatable application of the energy transition, H2 View stages a Mobility Snap Summit this November to summarise the progress made in 2022 and look ahead to what’s still to come.

Infrastructure challenges remain. Questions linger over policy and implementation. Many wonder which strand of the transport sector will blaze the trail in hydrogen power first, and likewise which region. There are clear challenges ahead, yet considerable progress made in 2022 and bright spots ahead in 2023 and beyond.

Join H2 View this November for a half-day online event dedicated to unearthing the progress made, dissecting the challenges to be met and establishing the state-of-play across mobility as 2023 approaches. Find more information here.
