The bulk logistics and fuel distribution firm said Luxfer’s 40-foot containers will be “crucial” in transporting compressed hydrogen safely for the initiative.
Last month, the Protium Green subsidiary HyHaul Mobility committed a £14m ($18.7m) investment to develop three hydrogen refuelling stations along the M4, supporting the deployment of up to 30 hydrogen fuel cell trucks.
Located at sites in Avonmouth and Reading, green hydrogen will be delivered to the stations from Protium’s production facility in Wales. Meanwhile, hydrogen heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) are set to be leased out by Novuna Vehicle Solutions.
“By investing in MEGCs, we’re securing critical infrastructure for HyHaul and ensuring our logistics model is future-ready, flexible, and aligned with the UK’s Net Zero ambitions,” explained Andrew Reynolds, CEO at Reynolds Logistics.
Luxfer, a leading supplier of composite hydrogen cylinders and virtual pipeline systems, unveiled its high-capacity MEGC platform last year, designed to maximise payload efficiency and support large-scale hydrogen distribution.
The four MEGCs ordered by Reynolds Logistics are part of its new Hydrosphere line – Type 4-based MEGCs designed to carry around one tonne of hydrogen each. The new collection was launched last year in Rotterdam.
