Collaboration between policymakers and industry developers is essential for building a global hydrogen trade, but funding alone won’t be enough to achieve it, attendees at the Hydrogen Technology Expo in Hamburg, Germany, have heard.

A panel of representatives from Scotland, Germany, and Canada emphasised that harmonisation – among both countries and between the public and private sectors – is essential to achieving the Net Zero by 2050 scenario which requires more than 500 million tonnes of hydrogen production to meet global decarbonisation targets.

They highlighted the need for coordinated efforts to align policies, standards, and investments across borders.
