The agreement announced today (30 October) formalises Plug’s electrolyser selection earlier this year and supports the development of a large-scale sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), eSAF, and green diesel project backed by the Uzbek government.
The US clean energy company will supply its GenEco PEM electrolyser modules, ranging in capacity from 100MW to 875MW.
H2 View understands that the planned facility will have an annual output of around 350,000 tonnes of SAF, and 35,000 tonnes of diesel, using 4GW of renewable energy and 6,000 tonnes per day of biomass.
ABF plans to reach a final investment decision (FID) on the project in late 2026.
Alfred Benefict, Chairman of ABF, claimed Plug’s electrolyser modules can help achieve the scale, reliability, and performance,” the company’s customers expect.
Plug’s outgoing CEO, Andy Marsh, added that the agreement positions the firm as a company that’s already executing, not just announcing plans.
“We’re turning hydrogen commitments into real, operating projects at multi-gigawatt scale,” Marsh said.
“Signing this supply agreement in Australia highlights our deep engagement in the global hydrogen economy and our ability to provide proven electrolyser technology for SAF and eSAF production and decarbonisation.”
The Uzbek project builds on Plug’s existing 3GW supply agreement with parent company Allied Green Ammonia for a separate green hydrogen and ammonia facility in Australia.
It brings their total contracted electrolyser capacity to 5GW across both projects.
