Plug Power enters Brazilian market through GH2 Global partnership

Under the partnership, Plug will supply its GenDrive fuel cells to replace battery and fossil fuel use in forklifts, distribution centres and industrial hubs.

The Brazilian infrastructure firm GH2 will handle local project integration, permitting and rollout of Plug technologies.

The initial focus of the collaboration will be on large logistics and industrial poles, with expansion to other strategic regions of Brazil planned down the line.

In its latest earnings report, Plug Power signalled growth ambitions in material handling as it works to cut costs and reach margin neutrality by Q4 2025.

Plug CEO Andy Marsh said partnering with GH2 will allow the US firm to deploy its mature hydrogen technology and production capability in Brazil, where there is a lot of renewable energy and strong industrial demand.

Augusto Bias Daré Junior, GH2 General Director, explained, “Brazil’s renewable backbone makes it one of the most competitive markets in the world for the adoption of hydrogen.

“Our partnership with Plug allows us to combine cutting-edge technologies in fuel cells and hydrogen production with our local capacity to execute projects, ensuring scalable and economically viable hydrogen logistics solutions for warehouses, factories and distribution networks throughout the national territory.”

Brazil’s pipeline of large-scale green hydrogen projects is expanding as the country leverages its renewable resources to position itself as a key export hub.
