The study will determine the production and electrolyser power requirements of the plant along with cost estimates, technology and carbon intensity information.
Oracle CEO Naheed Memon said, “I believe their agreement to support us is a testament to the opportunity we have for establishing a facility in Pakistan to produce what is becoming the new global fuel, as the world transitions to green energy.”
The project – which is targeting 400MW capacity and annual production of 55,000 tonnes of green hydrogen – would export to the neighbouring economies of China, South East Asia, MENA and Europe, and aims to generate hydrogen below $2 per kilogram. It is expected to deploy 700MW solar and 500MW wind power to produce green hydrogen.
Oracle Power has also signed Memoranda of Understandings (MoUs) with Jiangsu Guofu Hydrogen Energy Equipment to explore hydrogen storage and refuelling infrastructure opportunities, and Nuvera Fuel Cells to explore decarbonised heavy duty transport and port infrastructure powered by hydrogen.
Oracle Energy, the joint venture company developing the project, has received a Letter of Intent from the Government of Sindh, in which Oracle aims to produce green hydrogen from a 400MW capacity electrolyser and renewable power for B2B usage and for possible sale to utilities and other users.
