Onix Renewable, the fifth winner, will supply 50,000 tonnes of hydrogen-based ammonia per year for 10 years to the Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilisers & Chemicals plant in Bharuch for ₹52.50/kg (about $597 per tonne).
The bid was part of India’s first green ammonia tender under the Sight scheme, Mode-2A, Tranche-I, where SECI is securing supply for 13 fertiliser plants across the country to help the energy transition.
The solar power developer’s bid sits near the middle of the price band. Last week, infrastructure firm SCC won a bid to supply Madhya Bharat Agro Products Limited’s site in Dhule with 70,000 tonnes of green ammonia per year for 10 years for ₹53.05/kg ($0.61/kg).
Before that, Oriana Power won a 60,000-tonne-per-year contract to supply hydrogen-based ammonia at ₹52.25/kg ($0.60/kg) Madhya Bharat Agro Products’ plant in Sagar.
Onix Renewable and Oriana Power’s bids sit between NTPC’s ₹51.8/kg ($0.59/kg) and Acme’s ₹55.75/kg ($0.64/kg), underscoring a consistent pricing trend and a tightly contested market among top bidders.
On August 14, SECI will hold its next electronic reverse auction for Coromandel International’s Kakinada fertiliser plant in Andhra Pradesh, where suppliers will compete to deliver 85,000 tonnes of green ammonia per year at the lowest price.
