
Ohmium reiterated that the plant doesn’t just encompass the electrolyser stacks, but it integrates the balance of plant, power distribution and electronics, water treatment, purification and cooling.
Additionally, the US-based clean energy technology firm has said standard equipment, such as forklifts, can be used to handle modules, cutting construction costs and making replacements easier.
H2 View understands the 29.7 m²/MW figure reflects the electrolyser’s full footprint. For example, a 10MW system would occupy roughly the area of a tennis court, which translates into savings on land, installation, and maintenance, directly lowering the levelised cost of hydrogen (LCOH).
“By integrating a comprehensive system into a compact footprint, our latest Lotus electrolyser is transforming the economics of green hydrogen production,” explained Markus Tacke, Ohmium CEO.
“We’re making it easier for hard-to-decarbonise industries to jumpstart their energy transition without breaking the bank, even in places with little available land that is expensive,” the CEO added.
Ohmium has been ramping up its capacity to manufacture modular PEM electrolysers at scale. Last July, the firm launched a 2GW factory in India, which could be expanded up to 4GW.
