NGEL invites bids to develop 7GW green hydrogen hub in Andhra Pradesh

Under the Expression of Interest (EoI), developers are invited to propose projects for the Pudimadaka hub. NGEL will consider arrangements for land sub-lease, water supply, green hydrogen, and biogenic carbon dioxide (CO2).

The green energy arm of India’s largest power generator, NTPC Limited, aims to produce 2.5 million tonnes per year of hydrogen-based chemicals, such as ammonia, methanol, sustainable aviation fuel, and green urea.

To enable production at this scale, the hub will include 7.5 GW of supporting electrical infrastructure with GIS substations and transmission lines, alongside desalination, logistics, storage, port, utility, and common facilities.

The hub’s renewable power supply will be generated by NGEL in Andhra Pradesh. The company is aiming for 60GW of renewable capacity by 2032 across its portfolio of solar and wind projects.

Located near Visakhapatnam, the $21bn project was declared as India’s first national green hydrogen hub earlier this year by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Interested parties have until October 24, 2025, to submit bids, which will be opened and processed immediately after the deadline.
