The new MPREIS station is set to supply its own fleet of fuel cell trucks with green hydrogen produced on site with capacity to refuel four trucks per hour. Linde has said 40 kilogrammes of green hydrogen, approximately equal to 400 litres of diesel, can delivered in 10 minutes.

In March this year (2022), it was revealed a 3.2MW electrolyser would be supplied to MPREIS by Sunfire, to aid the decarbonisation of the company’s distribution and daily operations.

Alexander Unterschuetz, Senior Vice-President for Components at Linde Engineering said, “The hydrogen refuelling station sets a new gold standard for speed while maintaining the same Linde Engineering commitment to safety.

“Here we have implemented a number of innovations, including a new standardised refuelling protocol for trucks. From our point of view, integrated generation, refuelling, and distribution of hydrogen is a future-proof concept.”

Peter Mölk, Managing Director of MPREIS, commented, “The conversion of our truck fleet to fuel cell vehicles, which are refuelled with green hydrogen at our own filling station in Völs, is a real milestone. This will make us the first medium-sized company in Austria to start supplying our food markets carbon neutral and emission-free.”
