The 65,000 square-foot facility will be near its headquarters in Farmington, Connecticut, and will see a total investment in the tens-of-millions of dollars in the coming years.
Mott is a manufacturer of ultra-thin, porous metal sheets, which are a component in the generation of hydrogen through electrolysis. Its Titanium Porous Transport Layers (PTLs) are the ‘world’s thinnest’ and allow for efficient and cost-effective production of green hydrogen.
Boris Levin, CEO of Mott Corporation, said, “This investment will bolster Connecticut’s role as a home for innovation in clean energy, one of the fastest growing industries there is.
“Mott has pioneered unique technology that the world’s leading energy producers need to generate green hydrogen, and the new facility will quadruple our production capacity.”
Coming in support of the company’s expansion, Senator Richard Blumenthal, added, “This new facility will bolster production of clean energy technology – helping lead the transition away from fossil fuels – and add over 100 jobs to our advanced manufacturing workforce.”
The facility will also serve as a centre of excellence, allowing Mott to rapidly prototype filtration technology for its customers and continue innovating.
Representative Johana Hayes, said, “In congress, we passed the CHIPS and Science Act and the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) to jump-start the workforce and bring manufacturing back to the US.
“I am please that Mott Corporation is addressing the semiconductor supply issue and creating job opportunities that provide clean energy solutions in the Fifth District and Connecticut.”
Last year (2022), the US Congress passed the IRA to see an offering of tax credits for low carbon hydrogen production and hydrogen fuel-cell electric vehicles signed into law.

The Act enclosed a bill which would see producers of clean hydrogen up to $3 per kg of tax credits, as well as making up to $7,500 available for new hydrogen-electric vehicles.
