Lhyfe inks 15-month deal to supply 90 tonnes of green hydrogen

Over a 15-month contract, the French hydrogen producer will supply the energy carrier from its recently launched Schwäbisch Gmünd facility, which is certified under EU renewable fuels of non-biological origin (RFNBO) rules.

The unnamed service station operator is expected to use green hydrogen to “fuel a fleet of several dozen buses.”

“After the inauguration of our first commercial production site, this announcement once again highlights the position Lhyfe has held for several years as a driving force in the development of a local and sustainable industry,” stated Matthieu Guesné, Lhyfe founder and CEO.

“More broadly, this contract mainly confirms Germany’s strong momentum in developing green hydrogen, particularly in hydrogen mobility.”

The German plant marks Lhyfe’s fourth production site and first outside France. The facility features 10MW of installed electrolyser capacity, producing up to 1,200 tonnes of green hydrogen per year.

When opened, Lhyfe said Schwäbisch Gmünd would supply heavy transport and industry players in Baden-Württemberg, which funded the project with the EU, among others.

Additionally, Lhyfe indicated that the network of hydrogen stations operated by H2 Mobility could be supplied with green hydrogen, as well as regional industrial projects such as the future H2-Aspen industrial zone.
