The tie up will bring together Krensen’s expertise in electric and hybrid marine propulsion technologies, Trident’s experience in electrical engineering and automation and ACUA’s UK patent-pending hydrogen technology.
The partnership is supported by funding from the UK Clean Maritime Demonstration Completion Round 2 (CMDC2), launched in May 2022 and funded by the Department for Transport and delivered in partnership with Innovative UK.
Krensen delivers ‘world leading’ control and power distribution technology solutions, with a focus on lightweight, sustainable, high-performance electric and hybrid digital electrification integration systems encompassing electric propulsion, energy storage and regeneration.
Trident has spent time gaining experience in marine technologies and has worked across commercial and private fleets around the UK and Europe.
ACUA Ocean recently announced the completion of the build and testing of its novel liquid hydrogen cryogenic tank.
ACUA also led a consortium to build and showcase the ‘world’s first’ liquid hydrogen autonomous vessel and bunkering infrastructure, which has recently won a £3.8m grant from the UK Government.
The £5.4m project from the Hydrogen Innovation – Future Innovation & Vessel Evaluation and Demonstration (HI-FIVED) consortium – aims to build and showcase an autonomous vessel and bunkering infrastructure technologies for liquid hydrogen to contribute to the decarbonisation of the maritime industry.
