Fertiberia’s facility will use green hydrogen from the new electrolysers to produce ammonia, a key ingredient in agricultural fertiliser.

The electricity needed for the hydrogen production will be supplied by Spanish electric utility company, Iberdrola´s, new solar park located near the hydrogen and fertiliser plant in Puertollano, approximately 250km (155 miles) south of Madrid.

Jon André Løkke, CEO at Nel said, “This really is the ‘king of electrolysers’ and shows what we can achieve in green-hydrogen production for European industry,”

This is a first step towards a greener ammonia industry, Fertiberia and other ammonia producers are planning to make 100% green-hydrogen fertiliser production a reality in the coming years.
