The Sheffield-based manufacturer will provide up to 200MW of electrolyser technologies for Hygen, which are focusing on decarbonising mobility, construction and hard-to-electrify industries and power.

The first phase of the agreement will see 50MW of Neptune Plug and Play electrolysers deployed across several projects. The second phase will introduce 150MW of large-scale modular electrolysers.

H2 View understands that Hygen’s projects will be based on the UK Government’s Hydrogen Allocation Round 2 (HAR2), or similar funding programmes. They are all subject to final investment decision (FID).

ITM’s CEO, Dennis Schulz, said, “We are looking forward to working in partnership with Hygen and its group companies Ryze and Wrightbus over the coming years, together playing a leading role in advancing the green hydrogen economy.”

Jamie Burns, Director of Hygen, added, “To build this infrastructure, we need ambitious partners such as ITM which has impressed us with its focus on the manufacture of quality, UK-built products.

“Hygen’s intent is to deliver low-carbon hydrogen projects in the near term, giving the UK’s Net Zero industry a valuable boost.”

Plans for a hydrogen production facility in Bradford were approved by the Council earlier this month (April). The plant is expected to be capable of producing 12.5 tonnes of hydrogen per day, located on the old Birkshall gas storage site.
