Renault to introduce first hydrogen light commercial vehicles

The Renault Master Van H2-TECH could revolutionise the commercial transportation sector by providing a solution with 12m3 cargo space volume whilst also being able to travel up to 500km on a single tank of fuel.

With the significant travel distances between refuels, it could provide a cost-effective long-term solution for companies that are looking to decarbonise operations through hydrogen mobility.

Not only is the Hyvia joint venture supporting decarbonisation by providing new vehicles, but it is also providing a new hydrogen refuelling system which is capable of refuelling vehicles in 5 minutes.

Hydrogen for the refuelling station will be generated on-site using water electrolysis or supplied in bulk using gaseous tube trailers.

These stations will be available to purchase, lease or rent providing several purchase options that could cater for the growing demand for hydrogen infrastructure.

David Holderbach, CEO of Hyvia, said, “I am proud to unveil our first hydrogen prototypes. Hyvia, it’s about hydrogen mobility solutions for a tailor-made offer to our customers to meet the challenges of hydrogen mobility.

“Hyvia will be able to deploy its entire ecosystem in all territories and professional fleets for a carbon-free mobility. Hyvia is moving fast, bringing together the strengths and skills of two leaders: Renault Group & Plug Power.”

US DOE, General Motors, Microsoft and Plug Power

What does the US Department of Energy (DOE), General Motors, Microsoft and Plug Power have in common? They’re all speaking at H2 View’s North American Virtual Hydrogen Event in October. Will you be joining us on October 19?

North America is in a prime position to lead efforts in decarbonisation, but it still has great distances to travel. The region has been giving chase in a race to green hydrogen dominated by Europe and Asia-Pacific. If policymakers and industry can work together and take the right steps to realise a hydrogen vision, the region is perfectly placed to expand its global energy leadership at scale and speed.

What lessons can be learned from Europe’s policymakers? What are the challenges to be overcome? What are the strengths and opportunities? How can North America go from giving chase to taking a lead in hydrogen? These are all questions our virtual event will address across H2 View’s four pillars of Mobility, Power, Policy and Technology.
