Under the partnership, HUI and the company co-founded by British fashion veteran Harold Tillman CBE hope to allow clothing manufacturers, suppliers, and retailers to address the environmental impact of products made partly or wholly from non-recyclable plastics such as polyester and polyamides.
EFG matches 60,000 fashion businesses in 140 countries with sustainable suppliers around the world. The clothing industry is estimated to produce 92 million tonnes of textile waste every day, with the majority of clothing now made using products such as polyester and/ or polyamides.
The companies hope to prevent plastic waste from fashion entering incinerators or landfill sites, offering a route for the materials to be converted into “road-fuel quality hydrogen.”
“Consumers are dressing themselves in plastic, often without knowing it, by buying over one trillion items of clothing a year that are destined to end up in incinerators or landfill sites,” said Aleksandra Binkowska, founder and CEO of HUI.
“Our Fashion Pollution Solution will give manufacturers access for the first time to technology that turns these items into road-fuel quality hydrogen that will power the next generation of carbon-free vehicles,” Binkowska added.
The partnership with EFG follows on shortly after HUI’s ordinary shares began trading on the London Stock Exchange’s Main Market.

As one of the most recognisable and experienced figures in British fashion, Harold Tillman CBE headed up brands such as Jaeger and Aquascutum, and served two consecutive terms as Chairman of the British Fashion Council.
Tillman, commented, “The technology developed by Hydrogen Utopia means that, for the first time ever, the fashion industry can be part of the solution to the epidemic of plastic pollution facing the planet, rather than part of the problem.
“After a lifetime in the fashion industry, I am passionate about the urgent need for clothing manufacturers, suppliers and retailers to address the environmental damage they cause, and to embrace ethical and sustainable production.
“The Ethical Fashion Group helps them do this and this strategic partnership with HUI has the potential to transform the global clothing industry by tackling our addiction to plastic products.”
A Successful Ecosystem for Green Hydrogen – London
It is becoming ever clearer that the entire green hydrogen ecosystem requires alignment. Hydrogen’s potential, performance, and safety are proven. Green hydrogen is widely accepted as a core pathway to Net Zero, yet the key levers in the transition are not yet in-sync.
At H2 View we recognise the increasingly challenging economic climate that various countries/economies are currently facing. We want to help as many companies as possible in the hydrogen space to achieve their needs as competitively and logically as possible. As a result, we felt it was a compelling decision to relocate our previously planned event in Iceland, to a venue in London.
Join H2 View in London, one of the foremost investment capitals of the world, for a 1.5-day event devoted to thought leadership, insights, and actionable takeaways in the green hydrogen ecosystem, combined with the connections and networking to deliver against those objectives.
This H2 View hydrogen summit is dedicated to dissecting the ecosystem requirements to truly realise a green hydrogen-fuelled future across industries, transport, and society. This event will tackle all sides of the energy ecosystem, from wind and solar power requirements to additionality, water sustainability, electrolyser technologies, and investment and policy climate.
