The NAA event, sponsored by McLaren, recognised key regional players across the automotive industry, where NanoSUN’s approach to addressing the key challenge of infrastructure for the adoption of hydrogen to decarbonise heavy transport was observed.

The company’s core focus has been on the design and development of its mobile Pioneer Hydrogen Refuelling Station, which is hoped to serve small to medium heavy-duty fleet operators with low-cost flexible fuelling, opposed to fixed stations.

Speaking about the award, Dean O’Connor, CEO of NanoSUN, said, “It’s an honour to receive the Design & Innovation Award.

“It was an inspiring evening and to see NanoSUN’s name beside McLaren on an award is a bit special. We sat in a room with giants of the automotive industry and listened to a keynote speak, with 50 years in the industry, talk about the critical importance of doing more with hydrogen in the energy transition…fast! It was also great to see at least two other innovative hydrogen focused companies in the room – Ulemco and Oaktec.

“As a fast-growing SME, we are a passionate team with a strong commitment to the energy transition of the transport sector and we are extremely proud of our product. We have a hugely talented team at NanoSUN and it’s great to see them receive industry recognition for their achievements and dedication to the hydrogen industry.”
