Germany risks climate, industry goals as hydrogen strategy falters, watchdog warns

Germany is falling behind in building its hydrogen sector, threatening its carbon neutrality goals and industrial competitiveness.

That was the pointed conclusion of the Federal Audit Office (BWV) in its report on the implementation of the country’s hydrogen strategy.

The BWV said green hydrogen supply and demand had not developed as planned, stating the government would miss both its 2030 domestic production and import targets.
