In a bid to address concerns surrounding EV charging reliance on electricity grids, GenCell’s solution, dubbed EVOX™ is hoped to provide 100% green energy which could be installed on any road in the world.
The Israeli-based company has said the EVOX will help overcome electricity shortage and grid stress, in remote as well as densely populated areas.
H2 View understands the EVOX solution can service up to ten 75kW DC fast chargers, leveraging on the GenCell BOX™ with up to 920kWh stored as hydrogen. GenCell says the solution has the power to charge ‘dozens’ of EVs per day, enabling each vehicle to reach 80% charge within 12-30 minutes.
The EVOX is currently in deployment in Israel delivering charging services to several commercial car parks in the country. Announced in June, GenCell partnered with E.V. Motors Pure Energy to install the systems at key locations.

Rami Reshef, CEO of GenCell, has said the solution can also offer backup power in the case of outages for charging stations, as well as power to sell-to-the grid in the event of peak load demands.
Reshef said, “With many more EVs on the roads, and more to come in the next few years, these solutions will play a crucial role in allowing EV and charging vendors to deliver operational continuity while achieving zero-emissions.
“Transportation is responsible for 25 to 30% of global carbon emissions; technologies like this that can accelerate wide scale EV adoption by facilitating faster and more economical scale-up of EV charging infrastructure offer an excellent way to decarbonise transportation.
“I’m very proud of the GenCell team for developing EVOX™, and as we move ahead with our ammonia and green ammonia technologies, we will have an even greater impact on the future of EV charging.”
