The Gen-Hy Cube is dedicated to the manufacture of Anion Exchange Membrane (AEM) electrolyser cells, developed and patented by Gen-Hy, whose factory will be based in Montbéliard, near the Switzerland border.

The new factory, set to make its first effective deliveries in 2024, will have an annual production capacity of 100MW, possibly going up to300MW.

Gen-Hy has brought its technological knowledge to master the production of AEMs and in the production of catalytic deposits upon membranes and electrodes.

Hy-Gen electrolysers will allow an increased yield of 85%, along with high-purity hydrogen. This technology uses readily available materials at low cost, and due to this technology, 1MW installed will allow annual production of up to 160 tonnes of hydrogen.

Eiffage Énergie Systèmes encompasses the green hydrogen subsidiary to offer global and sustainable solutions and respond to the needs of its energy supply customers involved in the ecological transition.

In 2021, Gen-Hy opened its first AEM manufacturing plant in Orly, France, and it permitted the start-up from then on to offer a range of AEM alkaline electrolysers from 50kW to 4MW using a modular design to support customers’ needs.

Last year, Eiffage Énergie Systèmes announced a hydrogen station is set to open in the south of Belfort, France, this year.

McPhy was contracted by Eiffage Énergie Systèmes,to equip the site that will be operated by Hynamics, an EDF Group subsidiary.

Under the agreement, McPhy will supply a 1MW electrolyser to power its McFilling 350 refuelling station, which is capable of distributing 800kg of hydrogen daily at 350 bar.
