The industrial gas giant today (Feb 8) said it had signed an agreement with the chemical company for the supply of hydrogen and steam at its new hexamethylenediamine (HMD) manufacturing facility at the site.

Expected to come onstream in the first half of 2024, the plant will both help BASF’s manufacturing capabilities and support Linde’s local merchant customer base.

Commenting on the new development and the deal, Veerle Slenders, President of West Europe at Linde, said, “Hydrogen plays a key role in the manufacturing of essential chemicals for industry.

“Linde’s hydrogen production technology, developed over several decades, ensures we can safely and reliably supply our customers and support their operations. We look forward to supporting BASF as it grows its manufacturing capacity in France.”

The new plant will mark Linde’s second hydrogen facility at the chemical park.
