Electrolyser makers push ‘made in Europe’ as hydrogen market lags

Six European electrolyser firms have launched a new coalition, calling on policymakers to deliver long-term green hydrogen demand signals and relax production rules as deployments lag.

Under the new Electrolysers for Europe banner, ITM Power, John Cockerill, Nel, Sunfire, Thyssenkrupp Nucera, and Topsoe said the continent had to match the sector’s momentum or risk losing its leadership.

In a manifesto launched on Wednesday (4 February), the group criticised EU policy for hampering electrolyser installations despite the sector scaling up manufacturing capacity from 1GW to over 10GW since 2020.
